Default Golden Missile to Milfer

As in Milfer Farm in Unadilla, NY. He should get lots of attention and I'm glad to see him in NY.

Tx for bumping the post
25 starts for GM, hard not to like that. $7.5k stud fee, down from $10k, seems reasonable to me.

Carlos Martin has a nice looking Golden Missile (mdn)colt by the name of Golden Weekend. A good sized chestnut with a nice stride...not likely to be a world beater but should break out of the mdn ranks soon enough.

i still cant believe the day kent D got him beat here in the hawthorne gold cup by dust on the bottle, whom i believe still raced 3 years later and couldnt win a ALW race in LA afterwards. glen and sharon hild looked like they won the lottery after the race here. of course they were accused of cruelty on their farm but thats a whole nother can of worms

Among the horses also defeated that day was NY stallion Catienus in his last race. I would have loved to take bets that day on who would be more successful at stud.

Ramsey did a good job with Catienus early on. Whoever advised him did a really good job. I hope that person got paid.

catienus doing quite well, keeping him in the relatively small pond of new york, rather than being a small fish in a big pond in ky, has paid off.

Do Catenius' progeny do better on the turf compared to Golden Missile? I was thinking maybe that has a little do with Catenius' progeny earning more?

It seems like the Storm Cats overall do better than A.P. Indys on turf, so that's why I raise the question (Catenius sired by S.C., Golden Missile sired by A.P. Indy).

catienus is #22 currently on the top turf sires list.
golden missile isn't on that list anywhere. catienus #25 overall on the top general sires list, again no golden missile.

Precious Kitten, winner of over a mil for Catienus, is out of Kittens First who produced Kittens Joy. The Ramseys have supported Catienus and so have the NY breeders. Golden Missile has been supported too, by Adena. The sale prices of the Golden Missile offspring are much higher than Catienus. But the Catienus foal prices are trending upwards.

Catienus is in the top 75 world wide in AW and dirt earnings. He is not in the top 75 worldwide on turf. Golden Missile is not listed in the top 75 world wide on any list. Catienus has produced fine runners on all surfaces and has consistently done well at Turway.

Golden Missile has 143 runners, 68 winners and earnings of $2,440,970 this year, #83 in Ky.
Catienus has 160 runners 97 winners and earnings of $4,769,933 this year, #1 in NY.

It's no secret that Ramsey has wanted him in Ky. Will he go or will he stay ?

Looks like Catienus stays in NY. $10k for 2008, up $2.5k from '07, according to the Highcliff Farm website.

Golden Missile is the property of Milfer Farm, according to Nybreds.com. Milfer stood Spectacular Bid, Cure The Blues, Phone Trick, Raise A Man.

This past Monday I stopped by Milfer Farm in Unadilla NY, just off I88. I was on my way back from Saratoga where I visited my weanling colt. At Milfer I was shown Golden Missile. He was in a round pen outside his barn. The golden boy looked magnificent as he overlooked the windswept hilltops many miles in the distance. He had been at the farm but a week. I also viewed the final resting places for Raise A Man, Phone Trick and Spectacular Bid. They are buried near the stallion barn in their entirety. Golden Missile looked great and when he was led from his pen into the barn he was up on his toes. Looked like he was ready to run again.

I noticed that Catienus now appears on the Ky sire list. Golden Missile is currently #2 NY sire.

You cant really compare GM and Catienus, one is good, one stinks.

Catineus would be a good sire anywhere, he gets runners.
