Default Rumspringa?

Does anyone know the staus of Rumspringa? Last time I heard, Contessa was going to challange the claim that was put in on him. Has this case been heard yet? If not does anyone have any idea of when it is supposed to take place? I personally think that Contessa and Winning Move Stable should get him back. He was declared a non starter, so how could they lose him?

Yes -- part of what had come about was that the horse would be allowed to race, just not in a claiming race.

Who owns him? Could there be any kind of liability if (God Forbid) something was to happen to him? I would have thought that he would have been placed on the shelf until the hearing. The fact that he raced today really suprises me.

Off (slightly) topic, but a dear German friend of mine laughed about the name after his antics at the gate- it refers to the time Amish youths are sent out into the world to go crazy for a bit, and it's from a German word that means, basically, "to jump/leap around." Talk about a name that fits.

The only reason it didn't surprise me was because I knew about it before it happened, before he was entered, etc. However, when I heard about it -- I was talking with one of the principals involved -- I was surprised. The topic came up and this person said the horse was going to race, but he wouldn't be able to race in a claiming race until the matter was settled or decided. Without too many details, I don't know if this was agreed to or needed to be agreed to by both parties. The case has been ongoing and progress (or regress for that matter, LOL) could have occured in the past two weeks.

A decision could have been handed down or the case could have been settled as my discussions with people involved was during closing week of the Spa. I didn't want to ask too many questions.

It seemed like it was a pretty high profiled case for NYRA, with all that happened involving the starters at Saratoga. You would think that it would have been mentioned somewhere if the case had been settled. Also it probably would set a precedent if a freak occurrence like this should happen again.

For those of us out of the loop...could someone give a brief synopsis of what happened?

pretty sure rumspringa was claimed out of a race at sar where when they popped the gate and the horse's jock was left in the gate or fell off shortly thereafter. the money bet on him was refunded. question is should he claim have been voided?

If I recall correctly he was held at the gate and claimed. Previous owners argued that he wasn't given a fair chance so shouldn't be able to be claimed (which seems reasonable).
