Default Presque Isle Downs

Saw in the Blood-Horse that this track slated to open September 1st. Might be interesting to be there that first day, although I expect the handicapping to be tough (and it's a long drive to Erie). Not sure from where the horses will come and not sure how a Tapeta surface will play, especially if the horses are coming from non-artificial surface tracks. At a minimum, they've got to be giving away some nice goodies for the premiere.

I'll be there with some. Supposedly maidens to run for 40k and up. Way better than Ellis or Turfway.

Damn, quite a change from the $4K stakes at Commodore when I lived there. (Well maybe it was $5K - it's been awhile )

Looks like its going to be a great place. The buffet dining overlooks the track. Will be a nice place to watch the races.

I think it is going to be a booming place, and that there will be some money to be made up there. Nice purses will draw in some quality horses.

I am definately looking forward to the opening up there...

No, they have Polytrack, or one of those other synthetics. Think the Dickinson surface

Yes, the track has the Tapeta surface (Michael Dickinson's surface).

Does anyone know who will be there -- trainers, jocks, etc.? I'd like to see what the condition book looks like -- however, based upon the geographics, potential quality of racing, surrounding areas, etc., there might be a great racing opportunities.

Well at least we know Cannon Shell will be there. He's already salivating over the big maiden purses.

If I'm driving, it's 5!

Was in Cleveland this weekend. Left last night at 6:20 and made it to the city at 12:20. 460 miles...

I would love to see them open the OTB's around the state that Penn National closed (mainly, Williamsport), but without allowing a slots parlor in them, there is not a bit of interest.

Still looking forward to a track in Erie...

I have been in a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere in PA before, and sat there for nearly 4 hours. Needless to say, I became familiar with all of the people in the cars around me that afternoon...

Are they supposed to have a turf course? Any one know how big the main track is going to be?
