That's the first mistake someone makes when thinking about gambling.

It doesn't seem like you have a lot of confidence at this point, so I would say start small.
Make your early mistakes with $2 win bets.
Then after you get a little better....increase the amount you bet.
Then, when you lose those races, just start shouting things like, "I handicapped it absolutely perfectly.....but then the horses screwed it up."
Then you're in.

"So, whodaya like in the 6th? and the 13th? ---Gran, there ain't no 13th today.

all good stuff, my grandma still tells me about the time she went to the track with my dad. She said that he lost all his money and she won like $6.00. I think it is the best $6.00 she ever made the way she explains it.

You really need a bankroll if you wanna play seriously, but I wouldn't worry about that until you get more experience. . . Chances are your first bankroll will disappear quickly as you learn the game so start slow and try to build confidence. . .

I am not a serious, serious capper but I do play Pick 4's once or twice a week but on the big days, like the BC I will play somewhere around $200.

To be honest, i heard that he just tells the tracks who he is going to bet and they just give him 10k not to play the race. He's just that good.

How much can you get from your ATM ? That is how you decide what the bankroll should be
