Default Which Derby Starters will we see at the SPA?

Every year as we gear up for the Derby and the rest of the triple crown races we often forget the "unofficial" 4th leg of the Triple Crown...The Travers. The unfortunate thing is by the time the Travers rolls around three-fourths of the Derby starters are never heard from again.
So...as we anxiously await Wednesdays draw of the derby field I thought I'd start a thread with this question....Barring injury...and the obvious....The triple crown winner...which horses would you either...1. Like to see at the Spa this summer. 2. Think will end up in the Travers.

I'd like to see Stormello in a mile or 1/16 race.
I hope Circular Quay runs in the Travers.

Point Determined is 4, he was in last year's Derby.

Providing they survive the Derby/TC, any of Pletcher's could run here. Teuflesberg was good here last summer and may return. Nafzger usually comes to the Spa so Street Sense could show up. Assmussen always comes to the Spa so Curlin and or Zanjero are possibles.

Of course some of the later maturing types, Sightseeing, Devine Park etc may also turn out.

I wonder if Pletcher felt bad for Scat Daddy when Circular Quay walked right by him in the Hopeful?

Or if he just continued counting the $$$$

It would be pretty awesome if the TC series stayed competitive and we wound up with the Derby, Preakness, and Belmont winners squaring off. More than likely though by mid July we'll just be hoping one of the three makes it.

Scat Daddy had an awful trip in the Hopeful, but I'm pretty sure TP was probably happy about having the 1st and 2nd place finishers.

I wouldn't expect to see any of the Cali based runners here. That would mean, Stormello, Tiago, Great Hunter.

In my opinion, The Travers is an overrated race. It is a good race and fits well in the summer for those 3 year olds who are gearing up for their fall campaign. You usually have a couple of horses from the TC races compete and then some new shooters. For me, it is really nothing special. To answer the question, I could see Chelokee, one of the Pletchers horse (AGS, QUAY or SC), probably a Zito horse.

Well...you should go there sometime on Travers day. It's a very festive atmosphere. When the weather is nice and it's a decent field the place is hopping. I agree with you about Chelokee. I guess the original reason for the thread was because all of us guys who go to Saratoga every year wonder where all the three year olds have gone. The field has come up very short over the past few year.

I think the turf racing at Saratoga is a little underrated. That is one of the things I look forward to about their meet. Also, they have a couple of races for the ladies that I find intriguing each year.

Yankee Gentleman is the freshman sire who I believe will surprise people the most. IMO, he will get some real nice, athletic, early developing sprinters and milers.

[quote=DaHoss9698]I was thinking the same thing. I am eagerly awaiting the explanation on this one.[/QUOTEThe Travers hasn't lived up to expectations the last few years. It's not the Travers fault, but everybody gears for the TC races and the Travers is an afterthought these days.
