However, as everyone already knows, each one of Jackson's suits involves bloodstock transactions, alleged fraud, etc. Having his horses with Steve Assmusen may in some people's opinion speak about Jackson's ethics, morals, integrity, etc. -- but that in my mind is far different than the Barry Irwin situation. I understand the levels were far different, and you are right about that point. Barry speaking out of both sides of his mouth is one thing. Campbell, while I don't know him personally, doesn't have to sue someone in order to have his opinion scrutinized. Good points. Eric |

So what happens to management in these situations is that they are willing to look the other way when it comes to the really big outfits. They become 'above the law'. Does anyone really think the steroids scandal in baseball would have gotten so much press if Bonds, Sosa, and McGuire weren't involved? How do you explain to the betting public how our game is on the up and up when all the major trainers are suspended? Why do you think Assmussen got 6 months instead of 60 days or less? |
