Default Venue options for Feb 9 . . .

So we have Louisiana Premier Night at Delta Downs, Four minor stakes at Santa Anita and Tampa Bay Downs with four higher purse stakes including the Sam F. David 3YO colts and Suncoast 3YO fillies.

I'm leaning towards Tampa Bay. Thoughts?

Home town week.
There are several very interesting colts in the Sam Davis on the Derby trail.

Tampa Bay Downs with the Sam Houston would be my first choice followed by Santa Anita. Delta Downs no.

Tampa Bay would be my first choice. The Sam Davis is the last of the 10 point Derby preps before the values jump up. It usually draws a strong field.

Tampa seems like the logical choice and would have been the place I would have picked. However, I was just looking at the entries in the Paddock and Steve has 6 for the Sam Davis and 8 for the Suncoast, but the other two stakes have 5 and 4 runners. Don't know if that is the final word on the entries or whether there will be others that opt into those fields later on or whether it is even a concern for anyone. Maybe some of the fields for the non-stakes are nice. Just thought I would point it out. Past performances will come out tomorrow and maybe they would shed more light on the subject.

Whatever, I have no interest in watching Louisiana breds at the Delta Downs bullring. Might be different if they still had the Delta Jackpot which it suddenly dawned on me is no longer run. I am only two years behind the times.

I don't think that Steve's list of probables is the final word on entries. In the past, once the races have been drawn, the actual fields have often been larger than those listed as probable, for a whole number of reasons. The entries for each race should be available by this time on Wednesday.

Thanks for all the feedback, so let for to Tampa Bay and make some hay on a hopefully cool and sunny day . . . OK? Points and ROI threads to follow as soon as the entries come up.
