Which horses are you surprised about?

This looks like a typical bread and butter open 8K claiming race.

Here are the horses dropping in claiming tag or class in this race:

Capture The Call: Ran for a 10K tag last time and finished last beaten 23 lengths.

Maximus Ruler: Ran for a $12,500 tag last time and was beaten double digits at every singe call. A non-threatening 9th place finish.

Celestic Night: Was out of the money for $12,500 two back, and was 7th beaten 22 lengths for an 8K tag two starts back

Battling Atticus: Was 8th beaten 66 lengths at 22/1 odds and running a 0 Beyer for a 16K tag last time out.

Asset Play: Won a 12.5K N3L at Lone Star Park two back. Second for the open at the same level last time.

Nonsense: 6th of 8 for a 12.5K tag last time. Was beaten for an 8K tag in his two most recent starts at the level.

None of the horses exiting 8K claimers won last time. Even in the realm of open 8K claimers, there's nothing special about this race. I've seen many tougher open $7,500 claiming races at Presque Isle.

Does it really?

Film Fortune? Maximus Ruler? Coloursoftheglen?

Geez I just thought these horses were worth quite a bit more!

It's depressing!

Film Fortune is a 9-year-old with a 3-for-56 lifetime record ... he was beaten 12+ lengths at this same 8k claiming level in his last two races ... he's running Beyers in the 40's and he hasn't come within 5 lengths of winning a race in well over 2 years.

Coloursoftheglen ran for a 4K claiming tag three different times in the month of March -- and he was 8th beaten 22.5 lengths for an 8k tag last time out.

If you think either one of those two horses are worth 8k -- you are on bath salts right now.

Also, you have to pay tax on claims in the state of California. I doubt either of those two would get claimed if they ran for $2,500 at Los Al or some No. Cal fair.

Geez DrugS I guess I haven't paid attention to these types in a long time.

I stupidly (finally) cleaned out my VS (I left Smarty though ) and now I have almost nobody. Better put some back!
