Default TVG fantasy question

For those of you playing TVG's fantasy horse racing game, I'm curious as to how things will work for Feb.

Between Feb. 1 - 5, you can add/drop horses as much as you like

That being said, Feb. 3rd is arguably the biggest day of the month for stakes races, with a huge day at Gulfstream.

So, if you fill your stable entirely of runners on Feb. 3rd, I would imagine you could drop any and all horses who failed to score points that day and re-load with horses running later in the month?

Also, once you score points with horses that day (assuming you have Invasor, Nobizlikeshowbiz, etc..) can you drop these horses after they (presumably) run well and keep their points?
Obviously, it's early enough in the contest (and since it's free) I don't think sharing strategy hurts anyone at this point.

I wouldn't drop until the 4th to be safe. I made changes to my stable on a day I should have received points for a jockey, however because I dropped him on the same day he won, I didn't get the points.

Lemon,

Sightseek is right about having to "hold your horses" to get the points. I guess the way the point tallying works is that any horse/jockey/trainer you have at the END of a day that they run, you get the points for that day. So, if you drop the day they ran and were eligible for points, you will not get those points for your stable because the horse/jockey/trainer will register as "dropped" when the point tallying is done at the end of the day. You would definitely want to wait until the next day to drop a horse that got points for you.

As far as the add/drop period goes....I'm a little confused on this myself. But I know you can add/drop in that period and still get points. I did this Jan 1-5. I'm unclear on the rule regarding the number of horses a stable can run in any given month and whether or not the add drop period counts toward that total. The way I read the rules, each stable can run a total of 10 horses each month. 2 may be reserved. Now, does this mean you can only score with 10 horses? Or does it mean you can only have 10 horses active at any one time? I'm thinking the latter, but I haven't been able to confirm in the game. I guess I will know this weekend because I have runners going that will put me over the 10 horse limit for the month. If they place and receive points then that will mean that the rule simply means only 10 horses may be active at any given time.

Thanks for the input. The 10 horse limit is something I didn't think of.
I imagine that would make it impossible to load-up on feb. 3rd runners,
and then drop the horses that didn't score, replacing them with stakes runners later in the month.

If you pick runners that get ITM on Feb. 3, it's as good a strategy as any I suppose.

Personally I'll be making changes every day I can and will take my chances that the 10 horse limit doesn't matter.
