Default Pelosi spills the beans on Gingrich

From San Francisco Gate today:

Quote:
In case you haven’t been watching cable TV, two former House Speakers named Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich are having a bit of a fracas related to all that Gingrich baggage about which GOP primary voters in Iowa appear to be blissfully ignorant.

Pelosi, the San Francisco Democrat and now House minority leader, promised to release records that are public but haven’t seen much sunshine lately about the congressional ethics investigation of Gingrich back in the day.

Gingrich said that would be foul play and promised to retaliate, claiming Pelosi was threatening to disclose non-public information.

But Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said Pelosi was “clearly referring to the extensive amount of information that is in the public record, including the comprehensive committee report with which the public may not be fully aware.”

Hammill helpfully provided public links and we provide them here.

Here is the 1280 pages of the public record Ethics Report, outlining Newt's record 84 ethics violations when he was Speaker of the House and resulting in $300,000 in fines and his quitting his elected office (the only Speaker to be so sanctioned in the history of this country)

way to mislead the public and not mention that 83 of th 84 ethics violations were found to be WITHOUT Merit.

Pelosi can suck it. She may be the worst human on the planet, excluding rapists and murderers.

seriously. 83 supposed violations were dropped.

saying "outlining Newt's record 84 ethics violations" is a flat out lie.

if you said 1 ethic violation, you would not be lying.

You should read page 92-95 of the Ethics Committee finding (where the bargaining on his guilt takes place)

I don't understand why you are attacking Pelosi. She wasn't in charge of the Committee that found Gingrich guilty of obstruction and lying, she was just one of many on the Committee. Gingrich admitted to guilt, and bargained everything down to one charge. The multiple charges were repeated violation of the same law that Gingrich admitted he did. They were not "without merit" - they were merely dropped and everything placed under one charge - Gingrich's lawyer bargained that down. Gingrich ultimately being sanctioned was an overwhelming bi-partisan vote in the Republican-held House, his own party demanding his resignation.

Gingrich has been a pariah in the GOP ever since.

Quote:
Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000. Gingrich acknowledged in January 1997 that "In my name and over my signature, inaccurate, incomplete and unreliable statements were given to the committee". The House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ... reckless" disregard of House rules. Special Counsel James M. Cole concluded that Gingrich violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics panel in an effort to force the committee to dismiss the complaint against him.

Because Pelosi is a despicable liar who deserves to be in prison. The only reason she said any of this was to deflect attention on the fact her and her husband made 100k in 2 days off insider trading. I hate her.
