![]() With Electrocusionist gone I hope they leave Discreet Cat in the US for the BC Classic they are claiming he can't go a mile and a quarter but if be can come a tik off the track record going 7 under wraps off a layoff why not stretch him out after the Jerome ANY THOUGHTS, or does anyone know if they have another horse already for the Classic

![]() I think Discreet Cat is fragile. I cant see them running him in the Classic off a 7F and then an 8F race. The Cigar Mile and the Dubai race are clearly their target. I doubt the Classic means that much to them. Bernardini is going to be retired at the end of the year. He is going to be their sire that puts them in the KY Derby picture for the next decade. A Classic win for him would mean more.

The Sheik treats all his horses like that if you know there background in there country the horses get to eat before the humans do. So pressing them too soon they have nothing to gain they are not money hungery like most private US owners. Discreet Cat is probally worth 7 - 10 mill I would give him all the time in the world. 1 tick off the track record in hand, 1 start off the layoff he is just a monster and you know when godolphin brings him to the paddock he is ready to run |

If it were so easy to run off with the Preakness because Barbaro broke down ... and to run off with a paceless Jim Dandy ... and to run off with the Travers because Bluegrass Cat broke a leg ... ... how come nobody else did it? |

I did not say, he was not talented, but if you are looking at all of the facts, you cannot dispute any that I put up... If he beats older horses, fine, but until he does, he beat a Preakness field with many over the top and a breakdown, a paceless Jim Dandy, and a Travers with another horse with a broken leg, please tell me if any of this is incorrect... I know, he's some people's hero horse and he's got a great pedigree, but I like to live in the real world.... |

![]() I love how the "he beat nothing" crowd never decides to chime in until after a race is run.. Before the Preakness, I never heard anybody calling Brother Derek or Sweetnorthernsaint "nothing." Before the Jim Dandy, I never heard anybody calling Minister's Bid, Dr. Pleasure, Sunriver, etc. "nothing." It's always after the race that these horses suddenly become nothing. Gee, I wonder what the reason for that could be..
Could it possibly be that Bernardini just makes them look like nothing? No, that couldn't be it. He's just lucky he runs into a whole bunch of horses, who, upon postrace inspection, are nothing. More to the point, this is a tremendous 3-year-old class. Anyone who disagrees must have slept through the last four TC seasons. And Bernardini and Discreet Cat happen to be the two best 3-year-olds in a LONG time.. Who's better? I honestly can't say. Bernardini has accomplished more, but when I saw DC's comeback race in person, my jaw hit the ground.. There's no telling how good this horse is. The bottom line is these are two OUTSTANDING horses and nobody can seem to enjoy it. Everyone wants to get caught up in who's better than who or who beat what.. Man, let it go. They're both otherworldly talent-wise.. |

By the way, I'm not saying DC might not be as good or better than Bernardini -he might or might not be (because as much room as DC has to improve, Bernardini has as much or more). But maybe Bernardini would blow DC's doors off or maybe there is not much between them. I really don't think they will ever face each other.......Let's just hope the both race next year and we can watch them do some spectacular things. Talents like these don't come around very often. Again, great post, Ateam! |
