Default It's not "just" David Junior now

#4 sire in the world going into today, Pleasant Tap standing for $10,000, again shows his sire power in the Woodward. He'll be #3 in the world after today.

The Dubai races inflate earnings - you honestly think Pleasant Tap is the 4th best sire in the word?

a lot of the top sires are there due to inflated earnings...look at elusive quality, he got to the top because of the bonus his boy earned from oaklawn. it's the way it is. i like seeing horses like him up there.
don't the best horses win the best races w/ the best purses?? besides, ap indy moved to #1--i bet your argument won't be the same with him!!

Just add another $300,000 to Pleasant Tap. He'll be #3 after today. I like him because he gets no hype and thus has a $10k fee. He just keeps banging out winners. I wonder what his fee will be next year ?

exactly! every week when the new standings come out, i like to look and see all those lower-priced studs at the top of the list. gratifying to me, and to many! and even better, seeing some of those huge prices way down on the list, or not on there at all. gives us not quite ready for prime time players reason to hope that maybe we can get in the game with a 'cheap' horse.

Sumitas,
Do you remember the fee that Distorted Humor first got?
Amazing!

And I have to say that Seattle Slew led the sires list in 1983 (I think?) because of Slew O'Gold's bonus for winning the Woodward and Gold Cup...I'm sorry, I know this isn't exactly correct; I just know SOG got a huge bonus.

Why are you bringing Indy into this? Oh, I know........oh, nevermind. I'm not going to get into another argument. I just have to be prepared for snide comments about my bias towards Indy whenever I post something that doesn't jibe with what other people think, even if Indy has nothing to do with it. Well, there's still plenty of time for Indy to drop from the top spot.

yeah, slews first crop was a bonanza.

lol
i certainly don't mind ap indy up top. he's one of my favorites, a good stamina influence, as well as having slew as his pop. mineshaft and bernardini when he retires hopefully will carry on the legacy as well as ap indy.

my only point was, you can't bash one sire, esp knowing another sire is at the top for much the same reason....most of those at the top have just one performer raking in a bunch of the dough, and putting them up there. it's just the name of the game. and it wasn't snide, but i believe you take most replies to you as being such....not my problem.

Premium Tap is o/o Premium Red/Phylomina-Thirty Six Red (Seattle Slew line). No earth shattering names but a good bottom line with 2 reines de course and 1 g1 winner. He is 3x4 to Stage Door Johnny. That Will Farish (co-breeder of PT) comes up with some interesting matings.

So anyone who is not a sheikh has some hope.

last two years, woodward winner was the bcc winner.....will third time be a charm?

naaaaaaah.

BUT that is premium taps second win over sun king. and sun king gave invasor everything he had. interesting.
