Default No Travers TV Coverage?

I was looking for a listing of the coverage of Travers Day, hoping that ABC/ESPN would at least cover the Travers Stakes itself, and I saw articles indicating that after 25 years, ABC has decided not to televise the race. In NY, you guys are able to see it on another local network, but I live near Philly.

It's actually not for me since I have betting services that will stream it on the web, but I know a few casual fans in work whose kids are into the races, and wanted to pass on the info. Looks like we are out of luck.

If you guys know differently, please post who is carrying the coverage nationally, if anybody.

I believe that MSG network will be carrying some of the races.

I believe Logo TV is having a red carpet show

Not sure if they are going to show the race though.

But it looks like I am correct in that no national channel, even cable only, will carry this race. That sucks.

Can't really argue with you. But honestly, I don't think it would matter if it was covered on every major network. Mainstream America only watches/cares about the Derby, Preakness and if there is a TC on the line then they care about the Belmont.
I want to believe that the people that care about the Travers will have the means or find a way to watch/bet on the race. So while I agree that it's probably not good for racing (could always use more exposure), in the end all it's really not that big of a deal.

i'm sorry to say i'm old enough to remember when these races were followed with great attention in the sports world. it just is not the case any more. theres never enough, really, GOOD horses in training that run against each other to cause the rival attitude.(you have to read garbage on here for "mock" rivals...lol) the article written about the 300 tracks with no one betting on them and watering down the product at the worst time, is so accurate. you had your 4 or 5 major tracks with different seasons and horses willing to race almost 10 times a year....until that happens again....good luck!
