I trained the dam of the 8. Quick story about her. We had her down at the FG when they still had schooling races and we knew she was pretty good. So instead of putting a jockey on her I had my FG assistant/ex rider at the time ride her. Scott was about 5'10 and 140 and we were hoping to not do too much while getting her some good experience since I wanted to run her back in 2 weeks. I personally was at Hialeah/Glfstream with the main group of horses and was at a Dr.'s appt. with my wife when the schooling races were going on and didnt have my phone on. When i turned it on the freaking thing had about 20 messages on it. Every jockey agent in New Orleans had called for the mount plus the racing secretary and a sheepish scott Cole. His message was something like "well she got approved but it didnt go exactly as planned". She had broke from the gate like a quarter horse and won by 10 with him trying to slow her down the entire way which just made her race look that more impressive.

So I was riding Sellers a lot at the time and gave him the call. The race comes up the day after Xmas and we are thinking that we are going to get bet off the board. Except Amoss had a filly that was supposed to be the greatest horse ever in there and i think we wound up going off 7-1. Lovely Sage walked out of the gate this time and Sellers did a great job steering her around horses and won by a length. Anyway we sold her at the January Kee sale the next week for $180k or somewhere in that area and Amoss buys her.

TC and I went to the Hornets/Mavs game the night of the race and sat right behind Mark Cuban who TC heckled throughout the game.

These ridiculous FTS's were far from fascinating. Horowitz is Zayat trash that Mitchell will get someplace.. The half to Icy might be ok but Icy took a while to be a grade 3ish Pletcherite, he was fairly honest but hardly special. The 4 year old feel good Cannon Shell story for Mandella wreaked of Laimo disease. What was left to bet? It was a soft field.. O'Neil has excellent shoes and that horse has speed must just be a laimo that Mandella wanted no part of. O'Neil on the other hand loves claiming these types. Once this laimo starts to hurt he will just drop away till someone grabs him for 10k. He will get 70k in purse money and lose the horse for 10 in 90 to 100 days. He is a smart guy, he will make the owner happy win a few races pay the bills and dump the horse to a Mullins type.
