Default Arc watch

It's never too early.

If Sea the Stars doesn't go? Keep an eye on Ms. Stacelita.

LADBROKES BETTING ON ARC WITHOUT STARS
By Press Association Sport Staff

Superstar three-year-old Sea The Stars has been taken out of the betting for October's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.

Connections stated an Arc bid was unlikely in the aftermath of the colt's Eclipse win last Saturday, and Ladbrokes have now decided to remove him from their market altogether.

Spokesman David Williams said: "We're far from convinced Sea The Stars will go to Paris in the autumn and have decided the prudent thing would be to leave him out of the betting for the time being."

Sea The Stars, winner of the 2000 Guineas and Derby, had been the 7-2 market leader but Aidan O'Brien's Irish Derby hero Fame and Glory now leads the betting at 4-1.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Ladbrokes bet: 4-1 Fame And Glory, 5-1 Stacelita , 12-1 Vision D'Etat, 14-1 Beheshtam, Conduit, Tartan Bearer, 20-1 bar.

Roughly 4-1 on Sea The Stars at this point, personally from what I have seen of him. I love him.

Vision D'tat is a healthy 10+/1. Like/love him also.

Haven't seen much of Prix de Diane winner Stacelita(I can dig something up) but she seems to be all the rave, can a filly do it 2 yrs in a row? Why not..

Edit-Seen her race, one word Wow...

Fame And Glory looked good in last, but is probably going to be overbet.

Getaway, who was 2nd in the Rheinland-Pokal this weekend...

(If he runs, this will be his third time in the Arc).

Hope Sea The Stars won't go here, likelyhood of softer ground over twelve furlongs could be a real issue for him.

Fillies division looks pretty weak to me this year, so I'm wary of the likes of Sariska who keeps doing things ever so easily.

For a long time I've been concerned about the prospect of Sea The Stars running in The Arc. Thankfully, the ground hasn't come up soft. I'm still not 100% sure how he'll cope with a strongly run race over the 12 furlong distance, though.

If he's going to be beaten this season it'll be on Sunday.

BUT......

The horse I'd take would be Conduit, as everything looks spot on for him there. Can he give 7lbs to Sea The Stars though? Doubtful.

A very interesting race, but I couldn't be having a bet.

Sea The Stars drawn in stall six for Sunday's Arc
By Andrew Scutts10.07AM 2 OCT 2009
SEA THE STARS has been drawn in gate six for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Fame And Glory has stall ten and Conduit is drawn 12.

Nineteen runners will go to post for the world's richest turf race at Longchamp on Sunday, after Johann Zoffany was the only absentee at Friday's final declaration stage.

If recent results are anything to go by, connections of Sea The Stars will be delighted with the draw, as two of the last four winners, Dylan Thomas (2007) and Hurricane Run (2005), were victorious in the race from stall six.

The Mick Channon-trained Youmzain, who will race in a visor, has been handed a tricky draw in stall one. Although Zarkava won the Arc from stall one last year, her victory was the first from the lowest draw since Prince Royal in 1964.

Godolphin's Cavalryman also has work to do to overcome the widest draw in 19.

Dar Re Mi, who was disqualified in the Prix Vermeille last month, will race from stall two. The promoted winner of that race, Stacelita, has been drawn 16, which may not be ideal for a filly who likes to race prominently, as the stall numbers go from low against the rail to high on the outside (the opposite to Britain).

The classy Vision D'Etat has a decent draw in nine, while Aidan O'Brien's two pacesetters, Set Sail and Grand Ducal, will race from stalls 14 and five respectively.

Other than Sea The Stars, tough call who will run big if the big favorite doesn't deliver. Just look at that field, some real nice horses in the world's deepest turf race.

Oh yeah, and The Bogberry 4th (no, really... even though he's been 5th in his last 3 starts).

Again, rooting interest only.

If Sea The Stars fails, I do like Cavalryman & Vision DEtat at their odds. Not sure what to make of Fame And Glory who has been beaten by Sea The Stars and it looks like he will be the second choice.
