This is a pretty nice field, considering. Some of these are coming out of the bumper-car Travers. Obviously I'm rooting for Cool Coal Man - I'm not that familar with his jock though; I don't think he's ever ridden him before. In any case, the weather looks to be good so I may go out there to see CCM in person. I thought he was running really well in the Travers before he (and others) got bumped around, so maybe he'll step up and win this one. I can only hope!

This is a tough one, but they certainly aren't going to be going :44&3 through the opening half like they have in Visionaire's last two starts. Even for a definitive closer, he has been extraordinarily predictable this year in terms of pace. In races where they set relatively fast fractions early (:46&1 or faster) he is 4-for-4 at distances ranging from 6.5 to 8.5 furlongs. In races where they have gone slower than that up front, he is 0-for-4 (although to be fair, one of those races was at 10f).

These guys should be strolling along slowly early. I think he is a total bet against.

I don't think that's fair. Given her screenname, you might assume she makes at least small wagers now and again...

LOL VERY small wagers. I hardly go to the track (though as I don't live that far from Belmont, I should go more often) and when I do, I don't bet more than $2 on a race.....if my favorite horse is a heavy favorite, then I don't bother betting at all.

I actually think that this is the best 3yo race of 2008. The class has been horrible all year but here, you've got several of the top ones here and all are in what is probably their best element. I think Harlem Rocker could do big things here and he's my selection for the win. I thought he has been misplaced in each of his races since the Withers. Back to a one-turn mile at Belmont and hopefully he picks up where he left off then. Visionaire is not that bad a horse and I think the pace will be hotter than most people are expecting. If it is, it will set up good for him to give his best run and this is his game. If it's not hot, Da Tara could sneak away. I don't see that happening though. I've always thought the Futurity was Tale of Ekati's best race and running at a mile is where I think he's best suited. Mambo in Seattle was all the rage going into and coming out of the Travers and it seems that after his poor race in PA, everyone forgets that You and I Forever was only beaten a neck by Mambo. And I haven't even gotten to the horse that I think is the wild card here and that's Z Humor. One of my favorite angles to play is the longer shot when a trainer has two horses, especially when one of them is one of the top choices. Especially when it's a guy like Frankel or Pletcher. I think that his placement here is a sign that maybe Pletcher isn't totally convinced Harlem Rocker is ready to roll. Also interesting that Z's career best number came at this distance on this track (97 as a 2yo in the Champage).

I'll play Harlem Rocker and Z Humor both on top with both in the second spot along with Visionaire and in the third spot will be all of the rest.

I can't like a horse without it being a love affair? I don't get why you have to be so snarky, but whatever.

If I go to Belmont and CCM is still in the race, I will place a $2 win bet on him. I don't care about making $$ when a horse I really like is in a race - I just want that horse to win.
