Default Is winning everything?

Is it all about winning or is it about competition?

Every once in a while I see a post that I completely disagree with.

I don't think anyone is right or wrong, just different ways of seeing the same thing, the same race.

Thoughts?

Overwhelmingly in this game, and modern day life, you're only as good as your last win.

I think its def. all about winning, if i go to the track for the day and lose i never feel good. Maybe if it's a day of bad luck, bad trips, etc. i might feel a little better, almost like a bad beat in poker, but for the most park when you lose it sucks.

Depends on how much money you have. For trainers it is all about winning because if they don't win they may not eat. For wealthy owners it is part about winning and part hobby.

that's it in a nut shell. If there was no gambling on horse racing how many of you would follow the sport watch online or go to the track? It would be boring
and except for the photo finishes, you seen 1 horse race you have seen them all. Before you readers tear me apart, think about it. I doubt if any of us would be involved at all. Just my opinion, so fire away DT er's

This is the opposite of how I feel. I'd rather be dead wrong (pretty much every day since Travers) than handicap well and be unlucky (i. e. Cribnote on Monday). The days you are wrong are going to outnumber the days you are right, so it's lousy to lose on the days when your opinion is good.

The only people who think competition is just as important as winning are the people who cannot win. If you arent getting into something to win, or be the best, why bother.

Which is probably why we haven't seen any more silly Saarland threads started by you lately.

Of his 89 2-year-olds this year - only two have banked more than 7K in career earnings so far.

The only one to win a MSW race recieved her own thread as though she had just swept the triple tiara.

And sadly, she has blacktype now with her horrible suck up finish last week

She's a nice horse.

It's the other 88 2-year-olds of his that don't look like much.

No, it's not all about winning for me when it comes to racing. I follow what I can, read books on the outside, handicap regularly, and love to do what I can to be a part of the game, but it's a game for me at this point. When I win, I'm riding high for sure, but when I lose at the windows I wake up the next day and nothing is different in my life. Usually I'm with good friends at the races, so a day losing in that environment is the price of entertainment.
