Kind of tells you just how open the 3 year old division is (beyond Big Brown) when you see that the 2 favorites are the 2 more unaccomplished horses in here- Harlem and Mambo. You get great odds on many horses who have already captured Grade 1's:

Tale of Ekati, Colonel John, Pyro & Da Tara

Grade 1's just dont have that much meaning anymore.

It really just looks like the 3yr olds that competed earlier in the year were not very good. All of these horses won grade 1's win beyers around 100. Pretty sad.

If Harlem and Mambo improve this race the others won't be competitive. The others have proven repeatedly that they are just not very fast horses.

First of all, Pyro is the 7-2 favorite. And what Grade 1 did he win?

The betting should be spread but I can't see Macho Again going off as the fourth favorite. I think he's most likely to be favored.

??? Favored? Macho Again? I dont think so. 4th choice sounds right to me.

You should hear the way everybody is chirping up Mambo in Seattle around here. Has to be the biggest wise guy Travers Play ever.

the pick 4 might be impossible to hit, i see 6 deep in the travers and thats leaving harlem rocker out, i see 5 deep in the bishop and thats leaving j be k out.... i dont think russell bazes horse is a lock either, and the turf race is tough, im hoping war monger turns it around, but no way can you single there

i think it would be insane to leave j be k out. Just my opinion. This horse is a freak and he romped in his maiden at Saratoga.. And I dont understand going 6 deep in the travers and not having harlem rocker. I dont see harlem being a cinch by any means, but I also cant find 6 horses I'd like better than him...

I think Cool Coal Man is way too high at 15-1. Disappointed to not see You and I Forever in there because he deserved a long look at what figured to be a square price.

I did a little also, though for me I don't think he is as good as some of these. Speed figures aside, at 15-1 I can certainly see him as a good value stab.

I looked at a few races earlier on and in particular I replayed some of Harlem Rocker's races to refresh my memory. I think if Coa can be patient and resist the temptation to move early on him we will see a big race from Rocker. This horse has one big move and the timing of it will be the key. Coa won't be able to get away with the premature move he made in the Wales if Rocker is to win a race of this level. That race should set him up well for the Travers.

I think Grenings article on the front page on Mambo In Seattle killed any chance of getting 5-1. Wouldnt be surprised at the least to see him go off the post time fav, since he is the 'buzz' horse.

Lot's of food for thought out there

for me a cheap pick 4

palanka
proudinsky
kodiak, visionaire, jbk
pyro

the 3 P's and whatever.... it's a pretty wild card with decent stakes and plenty of turf action finally..... interested in seeing what Mr. B. throws out there early in the a.m. This is the day we've been waiting/hoping for ....
Good luck to all have a great Travers Day....
