Default Watchmon - can anyone help this guy?

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...NTPAGECAROUSEL

This story annoys me. If anyone out there has disposable income they can throw on an unwanted stallion... please rescue him. Geld him. Make him a trail horse or something... if I had the cash I would take him in an instant.

Some remember Watchmon.... formerly owned by Pompa.. finished 9th in the Belmont, won the Jamiaca. He broke his ankle up at Saratoga that summer and it appears Pompa unloaded him rather quickly to Cornell and a vet tech adopts him. Happy ending? Nope.

First, the adopter took the horse with 'hopes to breed him'... well, no one wants to pay what she is asking for. Now she is in debt, cant afford to keep him, so wants to sell him. Shes put around 10K into him and now cant afford it anymore. 5K offers arent enough... she says she will donate whatever she gets from selling him to charity... yeah, her own pocket so she can pull herself out of debt....

Reading that story made me so angry... the tone is that of 'oh its to help the children'... bull, it was to make a buck... now you cant so the horse is a 'burden' you need to unload. Such crap. Where is Pompa in this? Why can't he find a nice place for his former WINNER? I am more than sure he can afford to take this horse and find him a new home. I guess maybe the problem is the greedy Witch who adopted him wants her money back and he's not paying for a broke down saddle pony...

Sounds like her intent was good and just didn't work out. Being out of work for 8 months I know full well the pressures money can place on you and it appears to me that she's trying to do the right thing.

Better than selling the horse off for the meat market.

She wouldn't get 5K at the meat market - and offer that she's already declined...Yet is stiffing her creditors for some trumped up bs story about it "being all for the children".
She either sh!thouse crazy or has allowed greed to cloud her judgement regarding what the horse's potential worth was. I'm leaning strongly towards the latter but either way she has made some distrubung choices all under the guise of some "spiritual awakening" that God was supposed to figure this all out for her and that hasn't exactly worked out- now she's stuck with a lame ex racehorse that can't even be ridden and STILL allows greed to override her decisions by refusing to accept a very generous offer considering what the horse is worth.
If she was even remotely genuious, she have sold the horse, paid her bills and given whatever was left over to this charity - and then donate the 250.00 a month she spent on care of the horse to the same charity each month.
But no, she wants what she put into the horse back, and is holding her creditors hostage until she gets her way, which will be exactly never.

I'm not buying her hardluck story either. My BS Meter is going crazy. Does anyone know what farm/breeder Watchmon came from? Someone needs to rescue him before he ends up on a truck to Mexico. Or worse. Like slowly starving to death somewhere. Where's Pompa? Watchmon won over $300,000 for him. The horse has earned a happy retirement. I'm sick of people throwing spent racehorses away like garbage.

it would be nice if pompa (who i would assume is a bit more flush with cash these days ) would step up and help out one of his former runners.

either way, too bad that someone who wants to do the right thing ends up doing everything but. she needs to do what she can for the horse, and forget about money spent that she most likely will not ever see again. that was HER choice, not watchmons.

I hope you guys arent suggesting that Pompa give this lady any money. She adopted the horse and now realizes that her insane scheme is costing her too much money, but why should Pompa have to bail her out? It would be nice if he could get into a retirement farm where he should have been sent in the first place. Of course he would have to be gelded to go to one of those farms which would have interfered with his 'stallion' plans.
