Default Does Big Brown race again?

I sure hope he does. Not sure what they would accomplish. My vote is no.

I didn't think he'd race today. I didn't think he should have raced today. I'm not sure he did race today. I don't expect him to race again.

They would accomplish getting their head ripped off by Curlin. If they are smart they probably wont run again.

For some reason, I feel like they have to run him again.

He needs to run again, as long as everything pans out physically. Racing needs talented runners. I think IEAH will feel they have something to prove. Hopefully he runs in the Travers and the connections will be humbled by this experience and handle themselves with a lot more dignity.

Why does he need to run again? There are 50 million reasons and a bunch of investors that will make sure he doesn't run again.

Dutrow will want to prove to racing world that Big Brown is the real deal. I hope they fix him and do just that.

i thought win or lose he would be done after today. i doubt the owners or three chimneys would want to risk another loss, altho i think most of us would be surprised to see him manage to beat curlin-they would be too chicken to risk his next career.
also depends on what they find with BB in the next few days. obviously a horse who always won, and always ran wbetter than his peers, and then suddenly stinks up the joint has something going on. and altho i said tongue in cheek that he missed his steroids- i am not quite stupid enough to think that is his only issue.
i do find it somewhat ironic that rick says he's going to show how the good horse is by taking him off the stuff tho, only to have him fail to finish. that doesn't do much for his case in that regard.

if you're a big brown fan, and looking for good news for his racing future, you better not read dutrow's comments.

from bloodhorse article i just read:

I don’t really know how I feel," trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. said. "We did really good with him. It was a very disappointing race, but the horse looks like he’s fine. At right now, I can say, it looks like he’ll live a good life if he never races again. He didn’t get the Triple Crown, but we got the Derby and the Preakness and that was great.

"Right now, we’re trying to figure out what happened in the race. Everyone who was a Big Brown fan, I’m sure, was disappointed, just like I am. But, we’re going to check him out and see if he is OK. If we’re sure he is 100% getting back into training, we’ll go forward with him. If not, I’m sure we’ll just do the next thing, which is to retire him

And with those feet, he'll never be 100% so we basically know what he's saying.

i really think he's done. dutrows comments make me that much more sure that we won't see him again. unless of course you visit three chimneys.

They can't risk running him again. It's not like he finished 2nd by a length. Another performance like todays would be disasterous.

I think it is very unlikely that he will run again because that foot is going to probably take 6 months to heal. The year will be over by then.
