Default Handicapping Book

I was looking for a handicapping book to buy and i want to know if you can help me find the right one.

To the facts:

- I bet on horses on a weekly basis for almost 1 year, but I´ve been handicapping for 4 years...but once in a while;
- I am not from US and here in my country the DRF form (which, obviously is not called DRF) has a very limited amount of info...mainly the finish place, the number of horses in the field, the total time, the surface, the distance, the top 3 finishers, the number of lenghts to the winner, and jockey weight..nothing else! (for his last 5 starts only)
- Here in my country the main track is the turf track, not the dirt track.

Should I buy one of these books? (Picking Winners - Beyer, Horse racing for dummies - Eng, Handicapping 101 - Free)

Will they be useful to me? Which one of them?

Thank you very much!

There is no better book than Picking Winners by Andrew Beyer.

I read it when it came out, when I was 14, and it changed my life. I was just learning to read the Racing Form and it was the first I ever heard of speed figures. It is THE book for learning about how to begin your quest to win at the racetrack. It is also an extremely enjoyable read.

the problem is that I will never read a DRF form (with exactly the same information it has) nor see a speed figure...since they dont exist here in my country. Even though this is an importante reading to me?

Just read it. I will send you your money back if you found it unentertaining or unhelpful. There are many concepts about handicapping that can be useful anywhere.
