Default Morty will be upset

What are the odds that if the Yankees once again fall short and Santana pitches well for the Mets that old Hank will pony up a ton of cash for CC? 2-5?

Santana's deal made it very hard for most MLB teams.

I guess you could say that's a big reason the Os traded Bedard.

Gotta let him go.Mistake by the Lake can't afford that kind of gamble...Gotham clubs can afford to blow a ton of money. They have shown this repeatedly.

I think that the O's did the right thing. The guy is no doubt a top pitcher but has been an injury risk and they got a potential star to build around plus some pretty good prospects. Even a guy like Sherill has trade value at the deadline that they may be able to turn into another prospect. They cant compete this year or probably next anyway and signing big dollar FA's has not exactly worked out for them.

Adam Jones is going to be a monster and they will control him for at least six years. He will probably be an all-star in that time. If even one of those pitching prospects they got back reaches the major then it was a great deal for the O's and it's still a good deal if they don't.
