Default George Washington's girl

BH.....

George Washington Sires Filly

George Washington, who was euthanized after breaking down in the Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I) in October, sired his first reported foal, according to European Bloodstock News. A filly out of the Rainbow Quest mare Flawlessly was born Feb. 4 at the Irish National Stud.

Sired by Danehill, George Washington was a two-time Cartier Award winner before entering stud at John Magnier and partners' Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2007. He was relieved of stallion duty after experiencing fertility problems and returned to training. Coolmore then retired one of its group I winners, French champion Holy Roman Emperor (also by Danehill), to take the place of George Washington at stud.

Back with trainer Aidan O'Brien, George Washington ran in three group I races leading up to the Classic, running third in two of them and fourth in the other. In the Classic, he suffered a fracture of a cannon bone as well as fractured sesamoids.

Flawlessly, owned by Stefano and Loreto Luciani, is the dam of French group winner Ombre Legere and U.S. grade I stakes-placed Flawly, dam of French group winner Best Name.

I was about to post this in the Paddock, and then realized MMSC would already have been on top of it in International.

I make no secret of being angry that breeding controls the sport, but I can't help being happy at this news. How many was he said to have actually impregnated? Seven?

I thought the number was six, but I'm not sure.

Different Flawlessly. The Wolfson's Flawlessly was a homebred by Affirmed.

Default George Washington had a girl

Sort of good news to a very sad story. George Washington's only foal was born today.

Default George Washington Filly

http://auctions.bloodhorse.com/article/47897.htm

Does anyone here know anything about Gildawn stud? They bought GW's only offspring at the sale today, paid 280k euros.

Will they just breed her or will she make it to the track?

Any info is appreciated. I don't generally follow the international scene (I can't even keep up with the state-side scene) but I thought GW was a lovely horse and was at Monmouth for his ill fated BCC. The image still haunts me.

Thanks in advance!

It will be interesting to see if they even try to race her.. Seems like she is worth enough now, just as a broodmare.

I've only seen a couple of pictures of the filly, but she can't have been much of a looker. To make only that much with the pedigree and the hype and being George Washington's only foal.

Add to the fact that Coolmore weren't even interested in her as broodmare potential.
