Default 1M 40 yards on the dirt at TAM

These races are screwing up my charts. For whatever reason, times are not posted in the replays and there's never a MILE split time in the charts. I'm assuming they just record the 6F split and the finish. Can anyone who's a regular there enlighten me?

That is all I have ever seen recorded. Maybe Bigs or RudeboyElvis have seen different...but not me.

I'll make it even worse for you. Last year and earlier in this meet, they ran races at "About 1 mile". Suddenly they are running 1 mile 40yd races, but the gate is in the exact same spot (or within a couple feet). That is my opinion and based upon being at the track and sitting in the same seat every time I am there. I did notice they added a timing device 40 yards from the finish line to start the clock at the beginning of the races. The about a mile races had a massive runup from basically the same spot tripping the teletimer at the finish line to start the race.

As far as their lack of splits, it does not surprise me that they do not have them on their replay. I suspect it has to do with the technology on the video end not catching up to the change to 1m 40yds. They do have a mile split on the Equibase charts (Sunday's 5th went 22.99 46.75 1:12.56 1:39.46 1:41.78). The 2.32 seconds in 40yds from the mile to the finish for very tired cheap horses tends to tell me that the timer is not exactly 40yds from the finish line. Bottom line, I would be very dubious as to the accuracy of these splits in these 1m 40yd and About 1m races.

Fats: I could find no charts that did NOT have the mile split.

Bf: Not a good post by you with alarming inaccuracies. The eighth pole is one eighth of a mile up the stretch from the finish, the quarter pole is a quarter mile from the finish, etc. Tampa is a one mile oval and has the same pole locations as Calder, Churchill etc. Your math example is awful.

Bigs: Over the last week or so there have been five races carded at 1 mile and forty yards. The race class and last forty yard split;

4yo, one other than, 2.40 (seconds)

Bottom maidens 2.61

OC/ 32K 2.28

your example of 16K nw/2life 2.32

and on the same card 3yo maidens 2.40

These seem very consistent. BBB

Really?

Take a look at:

1/19/08 R4 and R6

1/20/08 R7 and R9

1/22/08 R1 and R4

1/23/08 R 8

N/A for the MILE split on the Equibase charts.

I know there are a few more prior to these dates, as well.

My Error

40 Yards = 1/5.5 Of A Furlong

*eats Crow*

Also apologies to BBB if you read my earlier response.
