Default Today's 4th at BEL

Can someone please explain to me what Castellano was doing on INCA IS CALLING in today's 4th at BEL? Can someone please point out to me at which point in the race he EVER asked the horse to run? Could he possibly have found any more traffic than he did? What could possibly have been his objective? When you guys are debating whether or not a jock makes a difference please use this ride as an example of why they do.

She was on my ticket, and your right, never at any point had any room to run. That's the problem with betting closers that draw the inside on the turf. Everything has to fold out right in front of you. this time it did not. In fact two other horses got the comment " buried in traffic"...

That was pretty baffling. I watched the pan and head on a couple times and he just completely blew it....at best. He made zero attempt to get out. When the eventual winner got in trouble on the turn Castellano could have taken advantage of that and eased out a bit. He just stayed inside, in fact jammed her inside, and never had a shot.

It was so bad, my sanest friend who never complains about things not being on the level said it looked like a stiff job. He was sort of joking and I am inclined to believe it was just incompetence.

At least it wasn't the worst ride of the day. Prado locked worst ride of the meet up in the 5th.

Well all we can do as gamblers is complain because nothing will be done by the stewards. Their incompetence is as great as the jockeys we complain about.

Until these "athletes" take a hit financially due to their mistakes on the job, nothing will change.

That's alot better than those watching on the OTB channel got. Up until the 7th race, rather than the usual HEADON after the replay, we were treated to fat chicks (and other those BS) on horses jumping 1 foot high bars.

It was such a pleasure. I was impressed.

And the headon replay is not on Calracing.

Boggles the mind why these jocks are hell bent on riding the inside on the widener course. This is $#@< Belmont. You're not supposed to lack room in the stretch.

BTW, did Castellano actually lack room in the 2nd on the favorite (as per the charts)? No headon here either.

Channel 13, at the track, shows the pan and head on as soon as the race is over so you get a couple chances to watch. They never showed the head on of the second on either channel however so I will have to go to the replay center tomorrow. CalRacing seems to tape off the feed so they won't have it.

I feel like the Hough horse easily had room in the second and was either outrun ( bad favorite if you ask me ) or chicken. I'll try to get the head on tomorrow.

She appeared to have a clear run to me from the regular shot. ANd she certainly got the best possible trip. Just wondering cause the charts have her as 'lacked room on the rail in deep stretch'.

You are not alone in your thinking with this. I thought the same damn thing right after the race. I didnt bet the race, bit it was pretty damn obvious Castellano had no interest in winning this race.

Pillow,

While I did lose money, it wasn't enough to get crazy about. I was surprised I was getting 9/2 when I bet her (went off at 4/1) and liked the horse a lot. To get a guy on top of a horse and have him put in absolutely NO effort what-so-ever is disturbing.

It has nothing to do with betting. Anybody that actually watched the race knows you have a point. Its not as though you said " She couldn't lose, I would have won a fortune, and the rider buried me. " The simple fact is the horse was never given any chance whatsoever in a ride that was, at best, curious.

She wouldn't have won the race if she had gotten through on the rail. What do you want Castellano to do? He had no opportunity throughout the race to move the horse off the rail. Castellano wasn't giving a "curious" ride. THe horse obviously wanted no part of it down the stretch.

Pillow Putz

You apparently had some nice things to say to me while I was gone. Care to pm them to me. It seems they got deleted.

It's a tougher field than last time and she has the dreaded outside post going 1 1/8 on the inner turf.

Mr. Serling-

What do you think about Trippi's Storm on Thursday if he gets in? Seems like an interesting race. . .

Andy's fine.

He would be tough, though his post would hurt, but I doubt he gets in.

Haven't look at the pp's but simply by name recognition, Rosie's Attitude should be tough, along with Second Marriage....Don't know what their turf experience is, but if I recall correctly both ran well over the inner so can handle tighter turns.
We ran our horse (American Dream'a) against this one last out. Ton of rank speed outside collapsed the pace gave us a nice closing run to the lead until our entrymate snuck up and bit us at the wire

What is the fascination with this one? Do you own a piece of her? Again, no pp's from either race, but think I remember that this start was 2nd off a long layoff
Should be a good race, looking forward to it - best of luck

I like Follow My Dream in here. She's long overdue to win one of these as she's run a winning race at the N1X level 2-3 times before. Then again, backing the sucker, seconditis type is on my business card.
