Default Curlin - help here

I am trying to find a reason to like the horse and a reason not to like him and their are great arguements for both. However, I have watched his 3 races and it seems to me that he sort of lugs out when coming down the stretch. It seems like he is looking at the grandstand. Am I imaging this or does someone else this this as well?

Simple...didn't start as a juvenile and only three lifetime starts...
if he's wins...I'll tip my hat, but at a "short" price...I'll let him beat me!

I tend to agree with you on this. Be hard to take him at 4 or 5 to 1.

I can't bet him to win at a short price. However, if you like any longshots to hit the board, I think you leave him out of the bottom of your triples and supers at your own peril. Remember, this is a 20 horse field. If any longshot sneaks into the gimmicks, they become huge, and I think it's a mistake to totally toss him.

I do not think that Curlin will be the post time favorite, think it will be much like last year and Street Sense will end up being favored. As far as Curlin being 5-1, it may be the last time you will get odds on him like that.

Some good stuff here... I can't help but laugh.

I hope that this horse is as good as you guys believe him to be. I'd love to see another triple crown winner... with that said, if he loses and loses big, I'm going to have a field day reading some of these posts. If he wins, I'll be on here eating crow.

I think at this point gross superlatives in either direction are unwarranted. He's been flawless so far, no doubt, but I don't think we really know just how good he is. He may very well finish tenth, and he may very well scamper off to win by four.

If he is just that good, then perhaps this is the last time we'll get good odds on him. But if he's not and his wins have been because of other factors, then we'll learn that in short order. I honestly don't see a reason why anyone on either side of the opinion will need to "eat crow," because it has nothing to do with you disliking the horse or anything -- just that there is a very legit case made for both sides.

Because I'm tossing him. By me actually tossing him and not using him ANYWHERE, that makes for a crow eating fest if he wins. I'll be the one wearing the dunce cap.

With the way they rushed him to the Derby, it wouldn't shock me if the Derby is the last time you'll be able to get odds on him (ala Pulpit and Indian Charlie).
