Default NBC receives mail from shooter

NBC received a package today in the mail that apparently was mailed by the Va Tech shooter in between his first and second killing spree. It apparently contains video, pictures and writings. NBC will apparently air some of this at 6:30 news cast. Unbelievable! NBC immediately called the FBI and turned over all originals, they were apparently allowed to make copies for what will be an exclusive...perhaps giving some insight into this insanity!

It appears this creep brutally murdered two innocent kids and then calmly went to the campus post office to mail his package before heading off to kill 30 more. They've released one picture...him wearing an ammo vest and gloves holding a pistol in each hand...the actual weapons he used it appears.

Yeah, the shooter is getting exactly what he wanted...reaching out from the grave to create even more pain!

Pictures and video shown at the beginning of the broadcast are pornography, particularly chilling is the picture of the killer pointing his gun directly at the camera...the last thing these poor innocent young people saw. Yet, if it was my child, I'd need to see...to try and find some way to understand that which can't be understood...a tough call here, I can only speak for myself but as agonizing as it would be, I'd want to see what my child saw...

Wow...just watched it, what a sick person! Funny, how the police got throwin' off the wrong trail with the boyfriend of one of the victims...THIS incident should have never happen with this guy's history. I can see why at one time, WE used to "lock up" all the "nut cases". The warning signs were there...very, very sad!

The mainstream media is playing into the need for some to find the "why" of an insane person's vile actions. The focus, in my opinion, should not be on giving immortality to a very pathetic derranged killer, but rather on the lives and the potential they held, of his victims.
Here is an opinion with which I agree:
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/VATech/sto...3056168&page=1

May the families of the taken find healing. Hopefully, msnbc will take down the "story" so they are not forced to repeatedly watch such hurtful "reporting". Msnbc's actions are not considerate of the healing process.

The photo msnbc has put up is plenty chilling. Derranged!!!
Reminds me of a "suicide bomber's" parting statements.
Looks like he, like the Uni bomber, Kasinsky, also wants us to read a "manifesto".
Very chilling.

I don't as a rule get involved in discussions like this.....and I know I'm going to be sorry I did here in this one.....buuut.

After reading about this guy a few things struck me. Now this was certainly a colossal trajedy, but people die like this every day...... we don't hear about many of them because it's usually a single murder..... anyway ...what struck me is he seems to have been an Asian growing up in this country who took a lot of abuse because of his shyness and his inability to speak good English....apparently not even close to that.....and because he looked different.

The story indicated his tape shows him acting like the main character from a Korean film where the guy gets out of jail after 15 years and aslo goes on a rampage.

So if you listened to what he said and you fill in the obvious blanks it becomes kind of clear.

Society helps create everything we deal with.

I'm just saying it's easy to blame this on a "scum bag " or a "nut case" and what have you.

Sometimes what goes around comes around and it's not always in kind.

It's too bad,but this is the way and world we live in.

Morty, I agree...

I do think that a normal, level headed person has better luck dealing with society in a more productive manner, though. This kid seems as if he hit rock bottom and it's how you deal with life when you're at rock bottom that actually defines you as 'crazy' or 'sane.' I don't think this kid was right in the head (obviously.) Sometimes it's easier to label someone as a scumbag than to read between the lines...

I know what you're saying.

We're all different and have different abilities to fight that end of the line retsraint.

There are those of us who commit suicide.Imagine how unbearable life becomes to actually do that....and are they crazy?

Then there are those who have to take innocents with them. That would be to me an end of the liner who has infinite built up hate.

People who do these things sometime seem preditcable...and sometimes not.

Then you have your serial killers.

Oh it's pretty messy and I don't pretend to know the answers ,but the world gets stranger every day.I think more of these things will happen as time goes on.300 million people and growing in a disparate melting pot like ours......I suppose these things are inevitable.

This whole situation just sucks so much. This guy was a complete sicko nutcase and gave out so many warning signs it seems, but there he was still going to school planning on executing this madness and nobody could do anything about it. Doesnt make sense, I dont understand how the school administrators couldnt kick him out or get him help, or the police. They say its because there was no "direct threat" to go off of, but all those horrific writings and stalking and not talking for months at a time. Crazy ****. That killer was crying out for attention to get help it seems, and nobody could give it to him. He is on another level of crazy.

OK, 35 years of working with mentally ill folks has taught me the following:
1) Society does indeed often create monsters, a study of mass murders indicates certain common threads.
2) This kid was obviously at risk for years and never received the help he needed.
3) Many folks with good intentions tried to help but there simply wasn't a system in place to help him under current laws.
4) he planned this rampage for a long time and executed innocent people in cold blood...he was sick but he was also a monster, there needs to be changes in the way society treats folks with mental illness but this individual still made choices...psychotic or not, he killed 32 innocent people!
The sad thing about this case (well, one of many obviously) is that it seems everyone followed the laws and procedures that are in place...changes need to occur or this will happen again and again!

SF;

And maybe if little darlings when pulling stunts like laughing at a kid in class had a teacher who would not put up with it and stopped everything right there and put everyone in their place by saying..."This boy is YOU."

That may have helped.

Certainly treating each other better would make a better world, and better discipline in the classroom (and at home) would be a huge benefit. Those that are mentally ill need many more services however, society needs to take this problem seriously. Many MI folks are invisible, homeless or poor, they are 7x more likely to be the victim of a crime than the perp. Often times they are released from hospitals with an inadequate (or no) support system. The very laws that protect you and me often harm them as they make it impossible to get them treatment. It is a huge problem that could be solved if politicians actually listened to MH professionals instead of playing politics with the lives of those who can't speak up. Of course, we know the likelihood of that happening!
