![]() i think the Makers Mark was just a case of Showing Up being a little short WHILE catching a terrific miler in Kip Deville. KD is now 7/8 at the mile distance and he was just better than SU last Friday.

![]() hey brock, found this on drf....
Hopes sky high for Showing Up Tagg said that Showing Up, who lost by a neck to Kip Deville in Friday's Maker's Mark Mile at Keeneland, would likely skip the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve on Derby Day and train up to the Grade 1 Manhattan on Belmont Day. Though Tagg said Showing Up came out of the Maker's Mark "real good," he thinks the Manhattan might fit better into what he hopes is a championship campaign for Showing Up. "If I can win a Grade 1 in New York in the spring and win another one in the fall and be lucky enough to win the Breeders' Cup, I think I'd be in good shape," Tagg said

![]() Take nothing away from Kip Deville, because he is no doubt a top class horse. If Showing Up had a few races into him, the outcome would have been very similar to the last time the two met. The point is that the Maker's Mark is not his ultimate objective, and it will set him up just right for the Manhattan. It was the right move to skip the Woodward, because you can't expect a horse to bounce back so quickly after such a lengthy break. Showing up looks like he might have a good year this year..It will be interesting to see who else pops to the top of the older turf division.
