set to have a myectomy this week according to the TDN, after finishing last in the Fairgrounds Oaks.

The easiest excuse ever used....1 out of 5 of these makes a difference. Sometimes horses have off days. This was one of them.

so by that logic...some vet is going to do sugery with ZERO evidence of throat dysfunction? okay, whatever.

If you ask for it they will do it...From my experience the eventual impact in terms of performance a'la Saarland in his 3 yr old season is little to know improvement.

you are right that they don't work very often...all the more reason not to perform the procedure on a horse that has had an "off day"...
