I agree that he made a bad decision. It cost him perhaps second place, if that.

any chance HL had of winning was robbed when flores became obsessed with pinning NK down at the rail, instead of trying for the lead in a slowly paced race.

her only shot of winning was to get the lead, and he made sure she didn't.
