Default Worst choke of the weekend?

1) Phil blowing the US Open.

2) Perfect Drift looking home free only to hang on the lead.

3) Yankees blowing a 9-2 lead against the Nationals yesterday, and losing late again today resulting in a lost series, one they should have had the sweep in.

You tell me!

Yankees Tim. Long year for you my friend. While we coast into the World Series. Will the Yanks make the playoffs? -120

Long year for me? I hate the Yankees Randall. I am a huge Red Sox fan. While they arent much better right now, my expectations arent very high and I am still feeling good about 2004!

gander - to be fair - you have to put Monty in there

for god's sake - he probably hits the green and makes 4 from where he was in the fairway 85 out 100 times

he probably makes a double from where he was on the 18 th fairway maybe 1 time out of 100!!!! maybe 1 out of 500. As big a choke as mickelson had , where monty was on 18 he blew it big time

Nah, nobody expected Monty to win. He was never clearly in front at any point like Phil was and he didnt have a 1 shot lead on the tee on 18.
As bad as Monty botched 18, nobody really expected him to win anyways.

Phil is coming off 2 straight major wins, is clearly the best player in the world right now and has a 2 shot lead with 3 holes left, 1 shot lead on 18, a hole he parred all 3 days prior.

Perfect Drift blows by the serious overbet contenders and opens up on the field. While he is not expected to win before the race he certainly is at the 1/16th pole with that kind of lead.

Yankees are the most successful organization in the history of sports, Nationals are barely one level up from a minor league team. They lead 9-2, suppose to win!

he was tied when he was on 18. he hit a perfect drive and jsut toally collapsed-

at least phil can go where his green jacket tonight

this guy is one of the best iron players in the world still - and he totally blew it, i mean even GPK would have to admit , monty's 6 was almost unthinkable from the middle of the fairway

even after he chips on - if he two putts at least he get into a playoff - phil collapsed no question, but from where monty was- his was worse

Monty is now 0 for 96 in tournaments played in the US. Thats just amazing to me, with his game. Sorry he didnt choke as bad as Phil. That brought back memories of Phil from before he won his 1st Masters, when he choked in so many majors.

Egggad, I feel sorry for him, thats a tough way to lose.

Gander, we can always look back on that period of time from October 17-October 20, 2004 where the greatest comeback in the history of modern professional sports took place. The fact that it paralleled with the greatest choke in modern professional sports history by the Yankees was just gravy.

Yes sir. I can still remember Oracle ripping on me on the ESPN board after we lost game 3 and we were down 0-3. I have to admit, I held very little hope but there was just something special about how we won game 4, with Ortiz blasting that game winner. Even being down 1-3 wasnt much better, it just felt like there was someone out there looking out for us. God bless 2004 and 2003 will always be the worst year of my life!

Gotta be Phil, but Monty was in the middle of the fairway and just chunked it.

Coast into the Series?? LOL!! The Yankees are playing with half their team on the DL and the "mighty" Red Sox are now just a 1/2 game ahead of them! The Sox better build up a bigger lead than that if they want to have any chance of even making the PLAYOFFS.

Mark Guidry making the lead too early at the top of CD's long stretch when he knew he was on a hanging horse.....I turned to my Dad as soon as he came out and rallied to the front with the entire length of the stretch to go, and I said, "He's the best horse but he'll never hold on with that much ground to go."....Unfortunately, I was right...

Finlandia is EASILY the worst choke of all time.....Kent couldn't have had more horse, or rode a better race, but the horse just decided to pull herself up....gut-wrenching....

Phil blowing the US Open. Hands down. No question. WTF are you doing trying some of the BS he did on 18. First of all hitting driver off the tee when you havn't hit an F-in fairway all day long. Then trying some off the wall BS with that attempt at a cut shot, banks it off the tree. Then, trys to lift his shot 3 over the trees and plunks it w/ a fried egg lie in the bunker. NO SHOT TO GET THE BALL CLOSE out of there. How many copies of TINCUP will he get in the mail? PD is a horse, he ran a good race, just didn't get it done. Yanks are a great team, games like that happen over 162 game season. BUT FOR A MAN WHO HAS WON THE LAST 2 MAJORS WITH A 1 SHOT LEAD ON 18 TO BLOW IT ON HIS OWN EGO AND STUPIDITY, IS EASILY THE CHOICE. I mean seriously, dude, hit friggin 2 iron off the tee, hit some long iron somewhere on the green, 2-putt and take your F-in trophy!!!! PHIL MICKELSON'S BIG HEAD got in the way of smart golf and cost him 3 in a row. I hope this haunt's him till the day he dies.

And the drive hits the pavillion. Incredible. I agree about pulling out a club you have not hit well, but then to hit it that bad.
