One of the feature races on this card is the Mother Goose, for 3 year old fillies. I was sort of surprised to see it scheduled at this time of year - I remember when it was part of the Triple Tiara series on the Belmont spring calendar, along with the Acorn and the Coaching Club American Oaks. Leroy Jolley is famous for referring to the matchup of his Meadow Star and Lite Lite as "the mother of all gooses."

[I'm posting this contest thread early since I have a (hopefully) minor surgery on my hand on Friday. Hopefully I'll still be able to join in the contest by Saturday.]

Are you hoping for a bigger score? Actually, I like this, having been myopic since the age of 14. Before, I got my first pair of glasses, I used to wonder what those black spots were in the sky. Turns out they were birds.

Hope that surgery went well. I've taken a dozen steroid shots in my hands in the last few years.

I recall Leroy Jolley making that comment and he reminded me of Bob Newhart when he said it. Oaktown Stable in the Oaks winners circle in May be like who beeper keep beepin and beepin that year.

IH, things seems to have gone very well. Little post operative pain, just the inconvenience of trying to type with a large ace wrap covering my hand and wrist. Whether it will be successful won't be clear for several weeks.

I had a lengthy discussion with the surgeon over the merits of surgery versus a series of cortisone shots. He concluded that the shots were easier and would likely provide significant relief for a couple of months, but they just don't address the underlying problem, which could continue to deteriorate. He performed the surgery with an arthroscope which should lead to a faster healing. Here's hoping.

Now, onward to the BC!!
