Interesting and entertaining fiction. Maybe you could sell that to Martin Scorsese for his next film on Netflix. Speaking of Scorsese films, was Al Pacino nominated for anything last night? I thought he pretty much stole the show in "The Irishman."

Stole the show ? The Departed was a hundred times better than that turkey. No plot , bad acting, ( except for the guy who played Jimmy the weasel) tediously long. No wonder it’s on Netflix. That way you can watch it in stages. Imagine sitting in a theatre watching that for 3 1/2 hours. I don’t know what Scorsese was thinking. It won what it shoulda won....nothing.

Formulaic and as you said way too long, but even so to me, if there was an interesting character in the movie, it was Pacino's portrayal of Hoffa. It seemed to outshine Deniro's portrayal of the main character. There were things I liked about the movie like the attempt to explain what happened to Hoffa and the explanation for the Bay of Pigs fiasco, but other things seemed pretty incredulous. Deniro's character picks up Italian while participating in the Anzio invasion? Deniro offs Hoffa while Hoffa's son waits in the car?

Not the worse movie I ever saw, but then again, I am not a very harsh critic. I seldom see a movie, I just have to quit before the end. I even watch movies in Finnish and Icelandic on Netflix.
