![]() I wonder if they would've just bet it a little different they'd got away with it? I saw the other day a Race didn't close at a track and some late money still came in near the finish.

If they had made just one winning ticket, and shown some of the kind of creativity you mentioned, they most likely would have gotten away with it. It was the six winning tickets from the same place that was the tip-off. And, the myth that Volponi making them the only winner is also false, as had even Medaglia D'Oro won and there been say ten total the six in one place still would have been a red flag. Especially THAT one place. |

Beat me to it..My brother went to Drexel with these greedy bastards..Anyone who didn't realize that 6 winning tickets at the same outlet wouldnt raise the red flag is a moron..Any way you slice it..Clever stuff, but in the same respect retarded..The Game Show network had a documentary on it actually..ANyways, red rocks ruined my 96$ winning pick 4 ticket..I was so optimistic when Round Pond scored third off her layoff, that i was gonna hit the pik4. Singled Invasor, but just didn't see red drocks coming..A most disheartening experience to have the favorite beaten (english Channel) and not have the culprit..Always next year |

Interesting... I heard it was the UWS NYCOTB they had been running "test" tickets on? Also, was it ever determined IF MDO had won (or another favorite), how many winners there would have been? That BC was before P6 willpays were posted. Pool integrity is a pet peeve of mine... it blows my mind how poor the technology is in the mutuel world. |

![]() No, they never said how many tix, I was just guessing, as it wasn't exactly easy going into the classic ( unless you could bet after 4 races ).
My understanding was it happened at an upstate OTB. |

The guy who did it was a computer tech and used a phone account in the Catskill system to place and alter the bet. |

They still do not have them to this day. Funny thing is that so very many people from Cuse love the ponies. They have the option of driving to the recently reopened Vernon Downs harness track and slots to play horses, but most go to an OTB that is about one mile over the border into the next county. I believe it is Capital OTB's biggest handle parlor. Its in a place called Bridgeport. My friend told me about it and I was driving home from western NY one day, I attempted to find it and did so. I was stunned. In the middle of nowhere in this cow town, there is a huge OTB that was absolutely stuffed with people playing horses. It was like Field of Dreams, you are in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden this huge OTB with a million cars in the parking lot appears. |

You're right though- Cuse people definitely like to play- there's tons of them at FL (well, tons relative to the "crowd" size i guess...) |

Its right over the border of Daga, in Oneida County by a matter of yards. You wouldn't believe the place if you saw it. They recently rebuilt it and refurbished it and made it even bigger. Its the size of the Albany teletheater and I've been there four times now and its packed like a sardine can. If you are ever up there you have to check it out. You won't believe that that many horseplayers could be found in the middle of nowhere. |

![]() that story was a real black-eye on the industry that something like that could happen.
