Default Army Mule

Just buried a good looking field at Belmont. Could be a late developing player in the 3yr old division.
Very strong effort just now. Sheesh

3 colts in California who could make noise later in the year ran this weekend.

1) Colonist, a Pioneerof the Nile colt, won an allowance over Derby prep also-rans Bronze Age and Milton Freewater for his second straight win going 2 turns. Also in the field was Lifeline, by Tapit out of BC Distaff winner Life Is Sweet.

2) Absolutely Stylish, an Uncle Mo colt, returned from a 6 month layoff to break his maiden well around two turns. In his only other start, he was 4th in Mastery's impressive debut going 6 furlongs. Runner-up was Honor and Courage, who has finished in front of Derby probables Irap and Sonneteer (3 different times).

3) B Squared, a Cal-bred full brother to Hopeful winner Ralis, won a minor stakes going a mile on the grass at Golden Gate. He broke his maiden on the main track at Santa Anita and just missed in a one-turn stakes in his previous start.

Thanks for this. Bronze Age disappointing in that race. Lifeline is all turf. Is Baffert sitting on an Army Mule type?

Bronze Age is all speed with no ability to handle pressure. If Arrogate ever needs a rabbit for some reason, he might be of some use.

Going off workout tabs, there is an unraced Malibu Moon colt named Omega Moon working regularly under his name. Also, Cairo Healer, who won his debut back in the summer, has a few 6f works, so he is getting close to a return.

Why are you delaying posting about Most Amusing?

Not only is it trained by Bob Baffert, it is owned by Juddmonte, and it was shorter odds than Justify was in his debut.

That's a question for the racing secretary.

At any rate, the difference of a 1/16th of a mile is what signaled Arrogate's subsequent greatness while sentencing Most Amusing to relative obscurity?
