Default Dortmund: Can He Be Stopped?

Dortmund has shown to be a serious threat to win this year's Kentucky Derby. What can derail this ultra-impressive colt?

A faster horse.

A bad post position.

A bad trip.

A bad ride.

A bad day.

Just to name a few things.

Default No He Can't!!

Look at these pictures!! He's like Forego!! He can do it all, and is peaking and learning at the right time! He is sound and has the foundation and toughness to get through the Triple Crown!!

I look at him and immediately think of Point Given, so yeah, he can be stopped.

If the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, then I sure hope Dortmund draws post #20 in the Kentucky Derby. This is a great horse and for me personally, it's like 2008 all over again

As your reasoning is vacuous.

2008 was a dreadful crop.

Not true for this year.

What's more vacuous than dismissing 2008 as a dreadful crop. Just because Big Brown beat every competitor he raced (throwing out the Belmont due to injury) doesn't make it a dreadful crop. His talent proved to be a man among boys. When you can win by 4 1/2 lengths from 5 wide at post 20, that speaks volumes. Only done once before in the early 20th century by the way.

I agree with you that this year's contenders look to be a strong group.

Dortmund's results this year, coupled with his pedigree and athleticism has me living in the past. To be precise, 2008

Big Brown was a nice horse, but that was an empirically bad crop.
