Default Travers Weekend trip- advice needed

I am looking to make the trip up for Travers Weekend & I'm looking for advice on places to stay. I'm looking at arriving very early Friday morning & staying Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. I'll also be looking for a GA ticket. I took Saragogadew's advice & called the Brentwood Inn, which is right next to the track & they still have rooms available & want $817 for those 3 nights. The last couple times I went up, I stayed at a place 10-15 minutes away & drove into town & that was about $100 a night, which wasn't too bad, but that wasn't Travers weekend. Any advice or insight from my DT friends would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I'll be up there for the Travers again this year. I stay in the Albany airport area. Commute isn't bad at all and rates are very affordable. Was in the best western last year and the Springhill suites this year.

There are many ways to do the SPA and many prices. Closer to town, higher the prices usually. Most are sold out way in advance of Travers and the people I know that go every year even make their reservations for the next year when they leave. I used to stay down in Latham years ago. Good price but got tired of the drive back and forth. I don't go to the Travers anymore, too crowded for me. Go to the Whitney and sales instead. The attendance cap will help. If AP doesn't come, you should be able to find some tickets. The tip sheet guys sometimes have tickets. If AP comes, it's a different animal.

Last minute trips, like Tanner, i stay by the Albany airport. The Red Roof Inn on Wolf rd is actually nice. about 95.00/night. 35-40 minutes away from spa right up rt 87. Many restaurants and other hotels on Wolf rd. Easy on/off exit. It's a good way to go.
