7/18: Saratoga (Opening Day; Schylerville)
Scene shifts to Saratoga after a rollicking opener at 'old Del Mar' that saw multiple longshots trip a $107k P6 carryover into Day 2. Based on Thursday's wild action and the first weekend of cards at both major summer venues, it should be an outstanding 7 weeks. Coolish temps at San Diego gave rise to some strong front end efforts on the poly, so as usual, you need to monitor the meteorologics when dabbling at DMR. Certainly Barry Abrams' implausible wire-to-wire winner Know More vwas the day's most glaring beneficiary of the tight surface. The new turf course played fairly with Super Ability wiring the 5th and Enterprising rallying from last into a square pace in the Oceanside. ATR listeners benefited from Brad Free's warning on $62.80 Passing Game and Jeff Seigel's excellent tab of 24-1 runner up Eldorado Prado ($20.60 to place) who was beaten in a photo.
