Default HorseTourneys.com Tournaments and NHC Feeders??

Long time lurker, have posted a few times here and there. Just wondering if anyone has tried the tournaments at www.horsetourneys.com ? I would love to qualify for the NHC, and they seem to have a lot online options to do that or get a chance to do that somewhere. I also just started participating in the $40 Santa Anita weekend tournaments to qualify for larger ones. Tourney play is quite a bit different than regular play as far as making bets.

Well, I guess no one has much interest in tourney's or hasn't played too many. Anyway, tomorrow I am playing two. The first is a feeder into next weeks NHC Qualifier. For every 10 entries, someone wins a spot. The other is for the Treasure Island Derby weekend tourney (~$1250 for entry and travel). 1 spot for every 25 entries, looks like only 25 are in so far. They are both for the same races (Keene 7-12, SA-5-8, OP 8,11), and both are pick and pray, so you have to submit all picks prior to the first race running. Then you can't change any. a bit different than the scoreboard watching live ones.

I will post my picks tomorrow so we can see how I do.

It's a great site. I love the feeder tourneys for cheap action and contest practice.

The big free one is Sunday, over 1K entered in it means you basically need to nail 10/12 winners

My selections. Keep in mind this is pick and pray, once I enter them and Keeneland 7 starts, they are locked. I will watch the odds on that race and possibly change my selection, though I do like that one. Interesting handicapping for a tournament, and pick and pray. Normally I identify my A, B, and C horses and create my own ML. I then watch the tote and adjust my bets or picks for a live tourney. This one I only ID'd about 3 horses, skipped all ML favs and most ML 2nds as well. It felt kind of weird but we'll see how it goes.

The tourney is $2 W/P, 1st choice followed by the ML odds and the 2nd choice listed is my alternate who will only go if there is a late scratch on my primary.

Keeneland #7 - 9 $11.00 $5.60 (6/1), 3
Keeneland #8 - 9 (5/1), 1
Keeneland #9 - 9 (10/1), 3
Oaklawn # 8 - 1 (9/2), 8
Keeneland # 10 - 1 (5/1), 8
Santa Anita # 5 - 6 $25.6 $10.20 (9/2), 7
Keeneland # 11 - 14 (5/1), 12
Santa Anita # 6 - 7 (15/1), 4
Keeneland # 12 - 11 (6/1), 9
Santa Anita # 7 - 1 (8/1), 8
Santa Anita # 8 - 4 (8/1), 3
Oaklawn # 11 - 6 (8/1), 4

12th out of 78 halfway through. Need to finish in the top 3. Leader has hit 4 bombs and is at $157.60
