Good luck to Ruud Awakening in R5. I'm using Iconic on top in that one.

Lock of the day - Rain Drum (R8).

Longshot of the day - The Peak (R9). (Come home safe, Sea Lord. No chance but love that old guy).

In THE race have narrowed it down to Hawkspur (might defy logic but I really do see him having a great chance. He's at 8/1 on the morning line and I'd imagine it'll go higher), Dear Demi, Voleuse De Coeurs, Sea Moon and Fawkner... not sure how I'm playing it yet. Still time to ponder.

(If I play a super will throw in Tres Blue, Masked Marvel, Foreteller, Fiorente and possibly Seville but am leaving out Mount Athos, period).

Good luck.

edit - Koonoomoo in R4.

Win bet on Hawkspur and will use the above-mentioned pretty much in the order written (Sea Moon and Fawkner in the 2nd spot over Demi and VdC with the others underneath).

Who do you like, Benny? Ed? Cardus? Anyone?

Can't wait!

That is always a Sweet Race!

Has a North American ever saddled a Melbourne Cup winner?

Not that it matters but personally I don't extend congrats because someone is or is not a woman. If anything it's a bit demeaning, isn't it? Like oh look at what the little woman did kinda mentality (which I thought was over and done with a few decades ago).

I understand Cardus and others in their reluctance to be thrilled for Ollie so I will keep it simple and just acknowledge that I believe Gai can have the same effect. Oh and yes that glaring omission was intentional.

Someday would love to hear thoughts on the ridiculous events leading up to the race with who did / was allowed to do what with what horse. (Big round of applause for uniform rules). (I mean what if one of them had won?).

Moving on...

It'll be interesting to see La Amistad, Makybe Diva's sister (well 3/4 sister for the people who count bits) in the Precedence race (sorry for not using proper names).

Dothraki for me in the 4th, Zurella in the 5th (with Unchain my Heart underneath).

In the 7th I am not using Boban, Solzhenitsynor nor will I use Toydini on top which I guess qualifies me for the idiot of the evening award. I do like Speediness and Blackie both...

Win bet on Blackie. Leaving it at that.

The Precedence race... come on I love this horses but he shouldn't be the favorite. Moudre with Michelle up for me. Prebble is my favorite jockey in the world. Have to pass...

Aashiq in the final (although those odds on Disciple are pretty nice).

Okay deep breath...

In the Sprint I thought I would have to surgically remove both Lucky Nine and Bel Sprinter from some random part of me. I love these horses.

In trying to be objective I was going to use Platelet on top but see that she scratched...

Pains me to leave out Bel Sprinter but alas... I do believe my old man from HK can win this thing.

Win and exacta, Lucky Nine / Epaulette, Via Verde (That's all I can do. Big fan of too many here and I know when to back off and stop trying to figure it out).

Good luck tonight. Hope everyone does well.

I never realized that.

Not sure which was more ridiculous... the protest or the odds he went off at.

Thanks, Dothraki. GOOD boy!

edit - Congrats to now-multiple G1 winner Buffering, to his people and to anyone who had him.

Very nice win.

Nice win by Boban who I refused to use.

Good luck the rest of the way, Cardus. I shall let Moudre and Disciple (went with him instead of Aashiq) surprise me and check on how they did later on tonight.

Thanks for the dead comment. I was beginning to wonder if someone stole your password...

edit - Oh geez Precedence won?

Gotta love it!
