Default Derby Point System

Ill Derby still gets nada. No love. No Derby Trial either for Lukas to try and get some late points. No justice.

CDI, always classy. I'm sure the shareholders were really pushing for the Ill Derby.

i don't like the points system. they should have just tweaked the earnings rules, and cut the 2 yo races by half or something like that. fillies being excluded, and petty feuds keeping out races like the illinois derby is silly.

It's pushing a rock up the hill, but why are the synthetic races included?

Maybe their exchange was left on the cutting room floor, but I'd love to know if Hegarty followed up Rogers' statement with that question.

Rogers' last word of that quote begs for that follow-up.
I'm sure if Keeneland weren't synthetic they would exclude those as well.

That would be interesting to see.
Forgot about that joke.

The IL Derby snub is strictly personal for CDI.

Funny that those 2 yo races in Saratoga arent filling so great.

What was the impetus to get rid of two turn dirt races for 2yo's there?

Haven't been following that closely, but seems the Pletcher babies are getting 2 turn races at Monmouth whereas he typically would have them in Saratoga.

The last few years, there have been very few two-turn dirt races at Saratoga, due to the 9F configuration of the track; last year's 9F maiden race, contested the last week of the meet, was won by Norumbega. The 8.5F turf races have filled reasonably well.

Of note, there has only been one 7F dirt race for the 2YOs run at the meet so far. It was a pretty weak race, won by Pletcher's King Cyrus by double digit lengths.
