Default One of the more interesting ways to lose a race

July 22nd at Presque Isle Downs, Foxy Sara TKO'd a goose around the 1st turn. She was eventually eased as the 4/5 favorite.

Because she was eased, I believe the New York Times would classify that as a breakdown...but I expect she will be OK.

I don't know.

It's Giant's Causeway's most expensive yearling from 66 offered at Public Auction sired by him in that crop...and in terms of the broodmare prospects GC covers, this one is below average. Which, in theory, is a sign that this horse looks perfect and stands out.

Pletcher also rarely debuts duds right before important sales, and there is an important yearling auction coming up on August 5th.

Still, I want no part of betting a horse like that in a debut dirt sprint. That's not precocious dirt sprint breeding. It's distance breeding and turf breeding. If it overcomes that fact and wins this race, a feather in the cap because it's not some cranked up standout 2yo sale horse who is better suited for this type of race.

Twang and Sky Drama are both promising second time starters. This horse will have its work cut out.

I thought for sure this was about 72 year old Anne Wheeler's ride at Vernon Downs last night.

they come around the Suffolk Downs infield, but when they land on the pond, we have 2 big mean swans that don't like stinkin Canadian Geese who chase them away.

P.S. Don't mess around with a swan, they aren't playing, they will put a hurtin on you right quick.

I lease a 16.3 thoroughbred draft cross with an attitude, but I won't go anywhere near a swan or a goose!

Canada goose. Not Canadian goose.

(pushes nerd glasses back up nose)

Effing Canada geese sh*t all over the place in the park near us. Blech.

Video. (of the race, not the geese in the park):
