Good Friday fell short of being a great Friday leaving 4th choice Oliver's Tale off the Santa Anita C/O P5 play, a $4,800 miscue, but come into the weekend well ahead thanks to the $822 P4 and other assorted nicely priced winners and multis throughout the day. In New York, thought I was in position to nab 5 of 6 conso and a little P4, but 30-1 Barrera firster Shaunna Alexandra upended those hopes and tripped a $113k double C/O into Saturday's fun Gotham card. Nick Canani and I had a chuckle after $12.00 Visionary Man ran down 4-5 Late Starter in the Big A 7th after I had told him on ATR he wasn't sneaking the 10-1 ML runner past anyone. Rajiv Maragh got his first win since being injured with Visionary Man, while a hook-up with Villanesca and streaking Flying Zealous was worth $325 ($1).

Hope everyone did well. In addition to the NY carryover, there is a $94k P5 jackpot at Gulfstream and the Rainbow 6 is back up to $154k.

Not a clear cut event..

Interestingly, in an era of lower figs, the Tom Fool owns a Beyer Index of 111 with recent winners like Calibrachoa (111, 107), Munnings (111) & Lucky Island (114). That gets you thinking about consistent speed and what Comma to the Top may bring to the table. Under Rosario, a brilliant front end rider, Comma to the Top may very well get away with what will be soft early tickings for him. Unless Head Heart Hoof is able to engage him early, Comma to the Top won't be caught. Fun edition of this and a good harbinger of what lies ahead for the Carter and Met Mile..

Bulky assembly for this Wood Memorial prequel and as with Hansen a year ago, favorite (Overanalyze) draws widest heightening vulnerability thoughts. Gate slot may not be death knell for Dixie Union colt as long as Johnny finds comfortable stalking slot without losing too much ground into first turn. Several mix and match players from the Jerome and Withers are signed on with Amerigo Vespucci (20-1) and Siete de Oros (15-1) the most inviting prices and Vyjack (3-1) and Escapefromreality (6-1) plenty capable. Several graded stakes scene newcomers dive in today with Ore Pass (12-1) seemingly putting the pieces together on time for Trombetta and KMc emerging with 8-1 players Transparent (Darley) and Elnaawi (Shadwell). Would not have paid a lot of attention to Casse/Oxley's Sky Captain (8-1) until noting that Miguel Mena bypasses a day of mounts at Fair Grounds to visit New York. He then flies to Houston for Su Casa G Casa in the Sprint Cup tonight. Absolutely wild betting affair even if you don't choose to try and beat Overanalyze..
