Default Oracle- Astros

You have to like a team that, in 1 week, go from being down 7.5 games to being down 2.5 games (to the div leading Cardinals) and firmly now in the pennant race.

6 games left, none of which are with the team they are chasing. Down 2.5 games.

Do you like their chances?
How much does this shake up the NL if they do slide in?

PS- The Reds have also managed to escape elimination as they have closed to within 3.5 games of the Cards.

Tim, the Cards are sitting at +1258 for the WS right now....about 12.5-1

No thanks Kev. I am rooting for the Astros to overtake them. If they make the playoffs they could be regarded as the NL favorites. Can you imagine the momentum they would be riding?

Tim I don't see what you are saying at all. I highly doubt that a team that got into the playoffs based upon one team blowing like 11 games out of 14 who has a 500 record would be favored anyplace.
Thats not momentum, thats called backing in. Talk to me when they get to .500 ok?
Its a neat storyline for the last week though. ALthough the Cards will pull it out I think.

WIth Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt pitching as good as they have been, you dont think they would be a favorite against that weak NL? I know the team struggles with run support but they have been turning things around and its not all that far fetched that this goes right to the end. I like their chances.

They are at .500. I believe that 78-78 constitutes .500. Now I guess I can talk to you

Should make a decency rule that requires you to be atleast 5 games over .500 to get into the post.If you can't do it,then nobody from that division goes to the post.A 2nd Wild Card team is designated post worthy.Cards are 5 games over. They should finish atleast that good.If not, then L.A. or Philly should go to the post.

Mets,Pads,L.A.,and Phils(if Cards,or Astros can't finish 5 games over .500)

Why exactly should the Cards finish at least that good? They've lost how many in a row? 5? They are playing like drunken sailors.

If the Cards go on and keep winning I wouldnt call it backing into the playoffs. Boy you guys really like to see the glass half full.

Cards have been headed, and responded back all season long.Am I right? Every time somebody came to them, they picked up the pace, and drew away a little bit.My guess is they do it now too.

Ya your right. But the circumstances are different now. Houston has clinched playoff births on the last day of the season 3 of the last 4 seasons. The Cardinals are dogfood right now.

tim - remember i told you to pass on st louis - good move

i like you're thinking on the astros

they are capable of beating any team in a short series - the hard part is getting in

but

they are winning tonight and putting pressure on the cards

Thanks for that horse the other day but I wasnt betting anything that day.
Glad you scored.

I like Houston's chances. Cardinals are awful, you were right. I'll send you half the money I was going to bet on them winning the WS. And I am sending Oracle half the money I was going to bet on the White Sox, he talked me out of that.

No, with my luck I would jinx them. I want to see them win the World Series if the Dodgers cant get there. One of those 2.

I agree totally. Same goes for all the American League teams as well when it comes time for the World Series.

i'll tell you what tim

if it is yanks vs astros that would be big - pettite and clemens back against the yanks - WOW Yankee stadium would rock

Do you think Roger would throw at Jeter , A-Rod or Giambi?

No I dont think Roger would throw at any of them. I'm not exactly a huge fan of his but I would root for him if he was in the WS.
