Default Do you think NBC will air any Kentucky Derby Prep Races this year?

Now that all three triple crown races are on the same network (NBC) I would have thought that the triple crown prep races would be aired to generate intrest in the triple crown.

Last year the Wood Memorial and The Santa Anita Derby were broadcast live on NBC in order to generate intrest in the Kentucky Derby and perhaps it helped as the Kentucky Derby T.V. ratings were the highest in years (if I remember correctly).

So do you think NBC will air any Kentucky Derby Prep Races this year?

Looks like the Florida Derby, Wood and Bluegrass might be on NBC or ESPN. Only place to see them (according to the NTRA sched) is online, which makes me think a network will air them.

Wonder why the Arkansas Derby was left out?

If you look at races in May and June NBC is listed as the network for the TC races.
Ark. Derby is listed.

No.

ESPN which televised the Canadian International on Saturdays for the last 3 years, will not be back this year.

I did see NBC as the network listed for the TC races. As for the 3 preps I listed above, it only shows NTRA Live as the network showing them. Does this mean they will be on a network somewhere?

I see what you're saying. In the commentary on the FLA Derby they mention HRTV also will broadcast the race.
The commentary on the other races are done by DRF and offer no other info.
NBC sports shows no indication on their website that any preps will be aired.

I've already seen multiple commercials advertising the Triple Crown on NBC starting a couple weeks ago. So that's a least a good thing! The interested general public will at least know how/where to follow it.

wow you know horse racing has lost all popularity with the general public when some of the biggest spring races arent being shown on a regular cable network.

Not sure how right this is since the only date they got right was the KY Derby

FL Derby will be on SUN Sports(unless a college baseball game goes into extra innings like last week) Nothing better than scoring 10 runs with 2 outs in the 10th
