Default So Cal riders too good for Portland Meadows?

The 2nd Annual XpressBet Jockey Challenge at Portland Meadows scheduled for Monday, Nov. 29th has been cancelled due to the Southern California riders refusing to make the trip up. The Jockey Challenge was slated to be a four-race challenge series covering races 4 through 7 on the Portland Meadows Monday Card.

“We’re extremely disappointed in the riders from Southern California making the decision not to come up,” said Portland Meadows assistant general manager Jerry Kohls. “I know many fans here in Portland and the Northwest were looking forward to the event.”

But they're not too good for complaining about how the sport doesn't promote the jockey enough. At least Jerry Bailey always complained about that anyway.

I hope they have a good reason for not going but based on the Assistant GM's comments from PM they don't. Otherwise they look like a bunch of little pricks.

In California a jockey can be no more than 7lbs over. If the rule for Oregon is +213 put me in coach I'll be there!!
