Default Photo for 8th race closing day at Toga

Below is from today's daily news...they still don't have the win photo on the Nyra site, just place. This really stinks out loud!!
I still don't believe that 5 got up for the win...
TRIPPED UP
It's called "Photo Finish: Pictures On Demand". The NYRA's way of showing you the picture from a photo finish right after a race is on its website, www.nyra.com. The only problem is it's not on demand. It's whenever the Teletimer operator wants to put the picture on the Web. On closing day at Saratoga, there was a three-horse photo separating Frivolous Buck, Gitchee Goomie and Tutti Va Bene for first, second and third place in the eighth race. The photo never made it up until after the 11th and final race of the card, after plenty fans from across the country called wanting to see it. The operator had a cavalier attitude when asked about it, saying he doesn't get paid extra for it. This is why this sport is dying. The people in charge don't care and allow it to happen when they should demand that the photo is put up on the web immediately - as advertised.

Jeff...

The photo for 'place' is the win photo... The winner was clear in the picture, and the photo is called for "Place" because it was harder to determine who was 2nd/3rd:

8th at SARATOGA (9/6/10): Win/Place/Show Photograph

Just because Bossert is clueless, doesn't mean everyone else needs to take his lead.

Closing Day at the track is always rather frenetic... It took the placing judges an extra 45-60 minutes to put up the photograph that afternoon. BFD. Is this really what Jerry Bossert is focused on with important fall racing at Belmont going on and Breeders' Cup 7 weeks away? Pretty sad.

Sad indeed. Sure looks like 5-4 pretty clearly.

He does a write up in the NY Daily News for every racing day. Obviously he had no real material or isn't smart enough to find/create a real story so instead he took a non event and tried to make it into a real story/big deal.

How is NOT putting up the photo of a very close finish IMMEDIATELY AFTER the race a NON event?

MTH, more often than not, focus on the winner of the race as it gallops out and then makes its way back to the paddock area, RATHER than a replay of the stretch run. This can be very infuriating when the finish is very close. NYRA is very good at replaying the stretch run (a few times). However, even when slowed down, sometimes, due to the angle, it's not exactly evident which horse won a particular race. This is where the photo comes into play. Of course, when it comes into play 45 minutes AFTER the fact, it's basically of no use to anyone. As it's not really a MAJOR task to put a ****in' picture on a website, not doing so is thus an 'event'. We pay our money when we bet; the NYRA employees really should then just do the job they're being paid for.

It's not like we're asking for some major s h i t: like, actually having them do mic checks before they broadcast. I mean, what would a NYRA broadcast be like if we didn't have to constantly adjust the volume: Serling is ALWAYS too LOW, relative to Blewitt; and both are too low relative to Durkin. Clearly, this is not 'someone's job'.

I agree with you as far as showing the winner coming back to the winners circle. I would much rather see a replay.
As far as the picture goes, don't they usually show a photo on the feed after they put up the prices? So what we are talking about (or what at least I percieve it to be) is the actual photo being put on the website. Which I guess would be nice, but in this case took longer to post than usual. But I don't understand what's so important about having the photo immediately posted after the race. There is nothing that Joe public can do with that photo except see how much they won or lost by. I'm not sure what you mean, when you say that the photo could come into play. Unless they somehow figure in your handicapping.

Based on the blurb in the paper, it seems like the NYRA employees answer is what lead to all the negativity. Was it a good answer, absolutely not. If he said something like it was crazier than usual today because it was closing day and it was just an oversight, then the article is probably even posted. But it sounds like Jerry Bossert didn't like the answer and all of a sudden wants to be a crusader on everything that's wrong with racing and apparently he couldn't find a bigger and better issue to come up with.

Not that it has anything to do with this situation, I wonder how Australian races have the photo posted, and the first five placings determined before the horses have galloped out? Oh, did I mention that they have 10-20 horses running and half the time there are 4 horses on the wire simultaneously.

They have advanced computer technology from the Beovians.

It was so obvious that it didnt require a photo to determine the placings right? The track should be obligated to post all photo finishes right after the race. They sometimes do but not always. I had a same situation at gulfstream this year where my horse was beaten by a 35-1 shot at the wire however the track feed nor the gulfstream website ever posted the photo so I called Gulfstream for the copy of the photo which took 4 weeks to get.

Our technology in this area is pathetic. It shouldn't take 4 weeks to doctor a photo.

And...whether the photo is posted or not, it doesn't change the outcome for any bettor, ever.

I'm tired of the media ragging on inside-baseball type items...stupid stuff that only impacts the media (not saying this is a case). But the articles from Vic Zast and John Pricci (and others) over the last few days, whining about press releases from NYRA and other silly banter is so ridiculous.

The laziness that is rife amongst the racing media is amazing and the more they whine about trivial things that matter to no one but themselves, the more they do towards their extinction. Blah blah blah, nothing about Super Saver working towards the Haskell...well, if you got up and went to the works early enough, you might have seen that, AND maybe something else newsworthy.
