Question Bluegrass Cat - Not That Hurt?

We all know this horse can be expected to bring a premium in the breeding shed. We also known he is staying in house at WinStar. Is it possible he is not as hurt as they are letting on? He seemed fine during the race and the cool-off afterward. Could they just not want to risk the horse knowing what they might have as a stud (Smarty Jones)?

Can't alway judge by that. Adrenaline and all. Its only after they cool down that ouchies can start to be felt.

I think they were retiring him no matter what, so there is no need to make up the injury. Opened my TTimes today to find a two page spread that did not say anything about "retiring to" as though it was future. I'm thinking this would have been the outcome regardless.

it was a non displaced fracture. we're not talking an injury like barbaros, or charismatics where you saw a bobble, etc. things like this take time to detect.
it's normal for an injury like this to show up the next day. horse can be just a little 'off', or a bit of heat, some filling, etc.

keep it in mind if you ever go horse shopping...walk them, trot, canter, the whole nine yards... and then go back the next day to see if they're lame. so often it doesn't show up til much later. you know, like if you exert yourself, feel fine. hours later take a seat, get up to get a beer and you're stiff as hell....same thing with this.

I would actually like to see his x-rays although I seriously doubt that they will hand those out to the media. They are even talking about having surgery on the horse. Just because a fracture is nondisplaced doesn't mean that it isn't serious.
