Default More infuriating developments in Philly...

Steve,

After the ridiculous Mid-Atlantic cooperative dispute, now it's not the track but Comcast cable screwing us. As of 3/31, they have removed the PhonebetTV from the Comcast lineup. It used to be on Channel 716. Comcast is the de facto monopoly down here, and they don't carry HRTV or TVG, so we are completely in the dark. The only racing I can watch now is special events on the major networks unless I go to the track.

I am so pissed! I had enough forethought to call Comcast early in March when I first heard this, and they told me PhonebetTV would be part of their sports package, which I could get at the reduced price of an addition $5 a month. Now that's obviously not true, so I will be having to read them the riot act after I get out of work. Just thought I'd let you know so you could pass it on.

Joe

A couple people wrote Emails to me about this... I'll ask Sal Sinatra at PHA what's behind it and if there's any recourse or alternate plan(s) in the works...

The easy answer in terms of watching racing 'on TV' is an HRTV.com subscription.

We get both HRTV and TVG with digital cable in the NoVA area.

Yeah, I do have one... I took advantage of that $49.99 promotion you told us about before Christmas. I'll be using it more now. In fact I'm getting an HDMI switch for the TV so I can use a PC to display on the big screen.

I am quite determined...

Default descions

looks like this could be a long dispute, phonebet operator told me comcast wanted a 700% increase to carry them, was thinking of switching to FIOS now that its offered in NE Philly , they have TVG at least but i am not crazy about TVG. always wanted to dump comcast but they had us locked in with exclusive on sportsnet, this may put me over the top.

here is an article from bucks county times.

Comcast is my provider and I get HRTV and TVG but they do suck. Every chance they get they are upping the rates. I will drop them when I move.

Looks like TVG has been added to the lineup in at least some of the Philly region. Not bad. I was checking it out the other day. Video is clearer than Phonebet used to be.
