![]() Steve,
Do you plan to get somebody on the air to tell us what's going on with the Midatlantic Cooperative tracks not being able to carry Churchill and Fairgrounds? Very frustrated that I can see big carryover pools in Equibase but can't wager on them. I don't see how this helps either side (CDI or the Coop) to have willing wagerers not able to participate. I can't even find much online about this. Matt Hagerty is one of the very few who has written about it at all. This weekend, I went to Delaware Park, a place I like very much, and it was not on their website or anything. I got to the track and basically had to throw away all of my advance handicapping work that I was diligent enough to do. There was a small sign saying in effect, "Sorry, due to a contract dispute we are unable to offer wagering on Churchill Downs until further notice". I know you've covered past disputes like this and I agree with your position you've had in the past. The lack of info right now is more frustrating than anything else. -Joe |

![]() Mid-Atlantic tracks lose Churchill
By Matt Hegarty The signal from Churchill Downs in Louisville was pulled from the simulcast menu of 17 tracks on the Eastern seaboard on Sunday because of a contract dispute, according to officials involved in the negotiations. The dispute is between TrackNet Media, a simulcast-marketing company co-owned by Magna Entertainment Corp. and Churchill Downs Inc., and the Midatlantic Cooperative, a 17-track partnership that collectively buys and sells simulcast signals. An existing agreement between the companies, which covered the signals from the live race meets at all the tracks owned by Churchill and Magna that started prior to Oct. 31, expired over the weekend, according to the officials. As a result, the opening-day Churchill signal was blacked out on Sunday from Suffolk Downs, Rockingham Park, the Meadowlands, Monmouth Park, Freehold Raceway, Atlantic City, Chester Downs, Philadelphia Park, Penn National, Pocono Downs, Delaware Park, Harrington Raceway, Dover Downs, Charles Town Races, Rosecroft Raceway, Ocean Downs, and Colonial Downs, along with the offtrack betting networks owned or operated by those tracks. Because of the way the contract was structured, the Mid-Atlantic sites will continue to be able to offer betting on any Churchill- or Magna-owned racetrack where the live meet started prior to the Oct. 31 cutoff, including Calder Race Course in Florida.

![]() Thanks Steve. All I know is that you couldn't bet Churchill on BC day at the Meadowlands, but I could bet it last Saturday in AC. It doesn't show up on the Meadowlands simulcast schedule. Go figure.
